Wanted: Weekend Getaway Recommendation

DH and I need to getaway for a weekend;
We are pretty open to where we will go; but I need it to be affordable;

We just need to do something for ourselves!

Any suggestions would help.

Re: Wanted: Weekend Getaway Recommendation

  • Where are you?  Do you want to do stuff or just laze around.  And define afforable :)

    We just spent a lovely weekend in the Kanaskis.  The Delta is a bit older but was comfortable and had really friendly staff.  We saw a bear twice, once was awesome because we were in the car and her cubs were adorable.  Second time was a bit nerve wracking since we were out walking, thankfully a large group had alerted her to people presence and she was in the process of leaving in the opposite direction.  Cubs were still cute.  Bonus is it's not even close to as busy as Banff or Canmore.  I like Jasper too.

    Just outside of Victoria is the Brentwood Bay Lodge, lovely location.  Again, nice rooms and a nice spa.

    We stayed at a nice hotel just outside of Tofino, I'd have to search for the name though.  Right on the beach, I liked watching the surfers (as opposed to joining them)

    I've come across some great deals for Punta Cana lately.  Although that's more then a weekend I guess.

  • Vegas was awesome - it was more affordable than usual because of the recession.

    You could do a day trip to Niagara falls or Niagara-on-the-lake - very affordable. I heard great things about Kingston/Gananoque / Prince Edward County but haven't stayed overnight anywhere there, you could go on a 1000 island cruise (afternoon or dinner cruise, not multi-day).

  • We always go to Niagara falls; so I have looked there, but I am think something different... DH doesnt have to be at work until 3pm monday so me have a make shift weekend.. I want to do something.. whether it is walking some nice trails and horseback riding or doing some watersport by a beach, Just something...
  • You could go to Wasaga Beach or Grand Bend if you want beaches
  • What about Ottawa or Montreal? I have also heard that the 1000 island area is really nice.
