Looking for a church (Dayton area)
DH, who has previously been pretty against going to church has decided he's like to try again. He's been leaning more toward looking for a Catholic church (which is the church I was raised in). So, I am looking for any suggestions you all may have of different churches/parishs for us to try out - they don't necessarily need to be Catholic, but we are both looking for more of a traditional service. We live in Kettering, but are willing to drive if it's the right one for us. TIA
Re: Looking for a church (Dayton area)
We live in Miamisburg (on the east side of 75, south of Centerville, north of Springboro). We go to St. Mary's in Franklin (Catholic) because we really liked how involved everyone seems to be in the parish, and the people are very nice. We go to the 10:30am mass on Sundays.
When we can't make that (since it's a good 10 min drive and the church fills up fast), we go to the 11:00am mass at St. Henry's (Catholic), which is just a little north of the intersection of 741 and 725 in Centerville. We like it there, but the pews have really low backs, which seems like a small detail, but when you're sitting for an hour, it is uncomfortable!
We've also been to the larger Catholic church in Centerville ... forget the name of it, but it's huge. The priest's name is Father Stretch and he seems like a good guy.
I would suggest trying out several parishes before committing to one ... Michael and I did this and it took a while, but we really like St. Mary's. Good luck!
