WWYD Anniversary

Our 4 year anniversary is on Thursday but DH has to work so we booked a room at a nice hotel in a package with a dinner at their hotel for tomorrow night.

But the store that DH works at is in the process of being sold and we will find out in the next couple days whether or not he has a job come September 1st.

So I'm wondering if I should cancel the hotel (but still go out for supper) because it seems a little frivolous or irresponsible to spend almost 300 on this one night. But at the same time he might still have a job and we've really been looking forward to this since it's the first time in 4 years that we've had money to do something like this.

So WWYD ?

Edit- so we're going

Re: WWYD Anniversary

  • depends... do you already have an emergency fund? If yes, then I would still go to the hotel. If no, then you should start saving in case he gets laid off. good luck, not a great position to be in :| You might already be too late to cancel hotel for tomorrow, so maybe check first before humming & hawing to make sure it's even possible to cancel.
  • We have until 4pm tomorrow to cancel.

  • it's like having an angle/devil on your shoulder. one saying hotel hotel! (the devil) and the other saying dinner only. (the angel).

I would like to say that I'm a responsible person (i am usually) but when it comes to things like this I believe you have to treat yourself - at the end of the day you only have amazing memories and I'm a fan of making the most out of occasions.

  • You can't predict what will happen with his job and even if it is the worst case scenario will having the $300 you would have spent on the evening make a huge difference? If the answer is yes it will make a huge difference then I wouldn't go. If the answer is no then I would still go through with your plan.
