So, DH bought me a nice digital camera for my birthday last September (not quite a year ago). About 2 weeks ago, the zoom quit working (I know- great timing right before the baby, right). I mailed it off to Sony and they said it is under warranty still, but we have to have a receipt. Since moving etc. we can't find it, so to fix it will be $171! Here's my question:
1. He bought it at Best Buy. If I call them, would there be any way they could look up that we bought that (he is pretty sure he bought the extended warranty thru them too)?
2. If we can't get a receipt/proof of purchase, is it worth paying the $171 to fix that one, or just get a new camera for slightly more (I see other cameras on Best Buy for about that price or maybe $30ish more).
I really liked that camera and it took great pictures, but a zoom is important. DH's answer to the problem- we can just stand closer to the baby to take pictures of her- ha! (And we do have DH's little camera and borrowed our neighbors camera too, to have when the baby is born- no way would I go 9 mo prego and not get pics of her when she gets here!!)
Re: Camera "wwyd" question
I would definitely call Best Buy to at least see if they can help you. If your DH did buy the extended warranty, they might be able to.
But, I wouldn't pay $171 for it to be fixed. DH bought my camera (with case and larger memory card) for $60 more than that. Just doesn't seem worth it.
