I just have to vent about this. This is not the first time this has happened and it's getting on my nerves. Some single guy looked at our condo over the weekend and the feedback was that it was more than he could afford, and was way too big for him! Uh, ok. When you look at a listing and see that a condo is 1900 sq feet...do you not have any concept of how big that is?! And perhaps you failed to notice the price at the very top of the listing on BOLD text?! How on earth do these people actually get to view properties that theycan see by the details on the listing page do NOT fit their criteria?! Time wasters!
Re: People are really dumb
Maybe they are approved for that much $$ but just don't want to spend that much... So they went to see it, so they would understand how big 1900 sq feet really is, and how much the $$ could buy them. I can see how that would be annoying for you though, getting your hopes up!!
We actually went with our real estate agent to check out a house last week.... (which we hadn't done, other than open houses, since purchasing our current house in March 2007). so the owner probably thinks we're time wasters too, considering we are probably not moving for awhile. However it is in our ideal neighbourhood and if the inside was nice and the backyard was better maybe we would have moved after all!! We thought the house was backing onto a conservation area, but only like 2 feet of the backyard was onto conservation area, the rest was onto another yard.
That is so lame. I wonder if he is just using that as an excuse?
You can't always wait for an open house to be held at a convenient time for you. And not everyone does open houses.
I "wasted" a number of people's time by booking appointments to view their homes, including our realtor. After viewing a few we completely revised our search criteria - area, size of home, features, budget - actually looking at it made it less of what we wanted then it seemed on paper. It happens.
My mom can share your pain though. Her listing says "3 storey townhome" and someone came back and said "I don't want a house with so many stairs".
I can relate. Our listing is clear that we have a 2 storey townhouse/condo with underground parking and a rooftop deck...and people always complain about the stairs! Uh, hello???????? lol
