Moms: Must haves for registering?
We're going to be registering next month (shower is in November).
What are your must haves? I am trying to put a list together so that I feel less overwhelmed when we go to BRU. Also, feel free to let me know what you registered for that you either hate or don't use.
Thanks!
Re: Moms: Must haves for registering?
So much fun! I remember when we registered, that's when it started to feel real!
Some of the things I'm glad I registered for (and got) were:
Boppy
Pack N Play
wipe warmer
carrier
safety gate
diaper genie
extra car seat base for dh's car
breast pump
Registering is SO much fun, but I felt really overwhelmed at first.
Here's what I can think of off the top of my head:
Boppy - 2 covers
some sort of sling/carrier (I have a Hotsling and BabyBjorn, love them both)
baby swing - I highly recommend a cradle swing!
travel system
diaper genie - also diapers and wipes
pack and play
Playmat, bouncer
Bathtub, hooded towels, washcloths, bath toys
New Parent's Survival kit - has all sorts of things in it like gas drops, gripe water, etc.
drying rack for bottles, bottles, extra nipples
Let me know if you want to see my registry!
YUP! I had one on my registry too and R sleeps in it every night. She hated it when she was a newborn, but I insisted in wrapping her and now she knows it's part of her nightly routine. Get the Kiddoptamus ones.
Oh, and you are welcome to see my registry too.
Breast Pump
Cloth Diapers (make the best burp cloths!)
Formula pitcher - the absolute BEST thing we got and used it all the time.
Different types of bottles. Dr Brown's worked best for Sarah but you never know what will work for your LO.
Bottle drying rack and bottle dishwasher holder thingy
Stroller
Carseat with extra base
We got a Boppy Cradle in Comfort Bouncer that Sarah LOVED
Be sure to also register on all of the formula sites and the diaper sites. You'll get tons of samples and coupons. Even if you plan to BF, it's good to have them around.
Bumbo Chair (Sarah still sits in hers)
That's all I can think of for now...You'll have so much fun!!
I listed a few of my fave things on my blog: http://adventureswithbabybear.blogspot.com/2009/07/few-of-my-favorite-things.html
PNP
Cloth diapers as burp clothes (I use several of those a day!)
Breast pump (I have the Lansinoh double electric)
bouncer and swing (see blog link above for the ones I have)
boppy (you want an extra cover for when baby spits up)
towels, bath tub (I like the fisher price whale one we have), washclothes
car seat and snap and go
monitor
moby wrap (I love to wear my baby and she sleeps so well in it)
I also rec looking at Baby Bargains, it is a great book to help you register! Let me know if you'd like to see my registry.

Definitely! I did this and got 4 cans. 2 from Similac and 2 from Enfamil. And they are good until 09/2011. I just opened one of the cans last week. Definitely nice to have and for me not to have to go buy.
I agree mostly with what everybody said.
I had 2 boppy covers and only ever used 1. I was doing laundry so much that I would have it washed and dried by the next time I was feeding her. I basically did laundry everytime she got poop on her clothes. Grossed me out to have it just sit.
I second the Parents Survival Kit from BRU. It's by Little Tummies. I bought it on Black Friday last year and I love it. Everything in there is SO handy. I will be buying this for every baby shower I go to from now on.
A def must have for me was my nursing cover. I am seriously so close to wearing that thing out. I use it all the time.
Gear is a must on the registry. A little FYI. I have the Jeep front carrier and I am not a fan at all. I don't think it's the carriers fault but I find carrying Mary on me like that extremely uncomfortable. Well...maybe it was the carriers fault because she always leaned to one side. Hurt like he!!.
BRU and Target both have lists that will help you register. Although some stuff is just not necessary. But you will be able to know.
Oh, one more thing. Mary didn't like to be swaddled past like 6 weeks. We just used receiving blankets for swaddling (BRU Carters ones are the best for this).
BTW, one of the girls directed me to this link when I was asking for help with my registry. I think the items listed are similar to what has been listed here already, but maybe you'll see something diff.

Here are some of the stuff that was on my registry:
Boppy & extra covers
tub
wash cloths, hooded towels??
diaper bag?
extra sheets for the crib and PNP
play/activity mat
Bumbo?
shopping cart cover
healthcare/grooming kit
bottle warmer - one for home and one for the car?
wipes & diapers (i put diapers up to size 4 on my registry)?
Jumperoo
Diaper Champ ?
I also had a bunch of small stuff & people got them as filler items:
formula dispenser
pacifier, pacifier holder
travel wipes container
bibs, caps, socks, mittens
clothes hangers
baby wash, diaper cream, baby powder, lotion
teethers, rattles?
?
HTH and have fun registering!
Registering is so much fun, isn't it?? ?:)
?
I'm going to be lone dissenter - but I disagree with registering for coupons for formula Web sites, unless you are planning on FF. ?If you are planning on BF, there's no need to even have them around. ?If it ends up that you are BFing and you will need to supplement, then go ahead and sign up. ?Why deal with the added mail???
?
I keep trying to think of one thing that I wouldn't have thought would be so important ... and I always come back to the blanket that we took from the hospital (you know, the one they swaddle your baby in). ?We swaddled him in it as a baby and now use it as a sun shield when he's sleeping in the stroller. ?Of all the stuff out there, this is the one thing I will be so sad if I ever part with it!!!?
