So H bought me a Wii for my birthday and I want to actually spend my b-day money on something other than bills.
Wii Fit or Wii Active? Any opinions?
PS. Hooray to me for Post #100! Hah. At this rate I'll be bronze when I'm 80.
Re: Wii Opinions ...
We have the Wii Fit but don't have the Wii Active. I honestly think the Active game is overpriced for what it is. The Fit is fun (love the ski jump and the hula hoop ones). We haven't really had a lot of time to play Wii in the last 6 months or so. We just started playing again after DH got the Wii Resorts game which is really fun.
I'm also probably one of the only ones that doesn't care for Mario Kart. I thought I would love it but I suck at it and just have no interest in playing it more to get better. LOL.
I bought EA Active for DH and I a few monthes ago and I really like it and so did he. It really does give you a work out, which is nice. DH liked it becuase you earned trophies for different acheviements. We haven't done it much in the last month or so with the move and house projects, but now that things are hooked up again we can get back to it.
I don't have Wii Active, but I do have Wii Fit. It's fun, but I'm not sure how good of a work out you actually get. You really have to push yourself, but it is neat how it tracks you.
And I also love Mario Kart. It's the only racing game that there's a remote chance I can beat my DH on certain boards!
I have the wii fit and I like it a lot. I don't use it enough though, last week I used it for the first time in like 3 month. It does work for me, and there are fun exercise games on there that make it seem like you aren't working out.
TOTALLY agree with you- DH and I are completely addicted to MarioKart!!
As for the fitness games, my parents have a Wii Fit, and we also have one at the hospital where I work (I am a physical therapist). I really like the Wii fit for posture and balance exercise, and it is good for building your core through games, yoga, etc. As far as other strengthening exercise, it has some really great programs, but you do have to have the motivation and form to be able to complete them correctly on your own. If it's a good, sweaty, cardio workout you want, the Wii Fit may not be your best bet. I have heard from several people that the Active game is better for this, but I can't say for myself since I don't have it.
That being said, I have a small addiction to the marble game on the Wii fit...
We have the Wii Fit but we have not used it much lately. I have great ambition to use it but somehow all the stupid reality TV shows win out every night!
That being said....when I did use it I loved the ski jump and the hula hoop game but as far as a work out goes...don't think you get a great one. The only exception might be the running...did that once...was not a fan but I did break a sweat.
I have thought about getting the Wii Active and based on the pp's experience...I think I might go get it this weekend. DH's birthday is Saturday and his parents got him Wii Resort...which his mom had him open today....and he is playing it now. I just played the frisbee and the swordplay games...way fun!
H has commented on Wii Resort and how much fun it looks. Maybe a Christmas gift for him.
FYI to all ... I ran out last night and picked up Wii Active. One of the major reasons is that H and I can play together, which is nice. We did a full body workout last night after we brought it home - boy did we sweat up a storm! We have also realized the living room in our townhouse is not big enough. It seems like my center coffee table has been shoved in the corner and the chaise lounge pushed off the side for weeks!
Thanks for all the opinions and suggestions!
