I'm sure you all can relate...

Why does my husband not listen to me? I've had numerous conversations with him about selling items on craigslist, going to look at wood floors, consumer reports and research I've done online, etc... and this all seems to be new and foreign to him. I try not to get aggravated, because I realize he can't help being a man--but boy does it tick me off!

Sorry I had to vent, because I realize ALL of your probably can relate! Wink

Re: I'm sure you all can relate...

  • I can't relate. My husband is a perfect listen. Pretty much hangs on my every work. ......HAHAHAHAHAA.....NOT!

It drives me NUTS! I swear to you when his brain realizes it's my voice that's speaking to him, it shuts his ability to hear off. Only his face appears as though he is listening, so I continue to talk as if I was being heard!!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE Super Angry

  • I was totally talking with my mom about this yesterday when we were setting my classroom up!  I was saying that he must've been a bad student when he was younger because I have to repeat everything I say at least twice (usually more!).

  • My husband NEVER listens to me!!!!  So frustrating.  It's funny because in the end he never hesitates to say "you were right honey" but yet he never learns from it.  I swear....  Tongue Tied
  • I have just come to the conclusion that it is that Y chromosome and they just can't help it.  LOL  Stick out tongue

  • That is called "selective hearing!"

I am convinced that it is a real condition. I really believe all men have it. Try and include something about his favorite food, sex or beer in the conversation and maybe he will tune in.

  • Ha ha... I knew everyone could relate! I swear it has gotten worse since we've been married! I do at times try to add hints of his interest in to our conversations--but i think he only tunes in the one or two words and then goes back to outer space!

I wish there was a drug that we could give to them to listen.... the pharmaceutical companies would make billions!

  • My H is pretty much the same-  I don't always listen closely to DH either though..so i really try not to complain to much about. If its something important i need to tell him thats one thing, but if its me just rambling about something i don't get real worked up about it.... sometimes I find myself drifting out of whatever conversation we are having, especially if I am doing something else. I'll do exactly to him what he does to me..not intentionally but I do catch my self, i'll think CRAP I have no idea what he just said.

  • My favorite is when he informs me of something he heard at work, which I happen to have already shared with him days before.

He did this with our baby's name- he suggested the name I have had picked out since we were dating. Seriously??!! I just told him I thought it was a great idea. : )

I also like when he agrees to something, i.e. me going shopping, and then gets mad, because he doesn't remember agreeing to it.  Now I make him repeat everything to me!
