Flowers

I'm so lost.  I dont know what to do about bouquets and centerpieces, I dont want to blow my budget on them but I need them.  Any cheap ideas?

Re: Flowers

  • You may want to post this on the DFW board on The Knot... They will have lots of florist suggestions!
  • When is your wedding? Mine was in December and I used white sparkle branches. I found my branches at a Christmas store. I bought all of them very cheap. I guess you could use regular branches at anytime of the year.
  • I made my own bouquets and boutineres (spl?).

I made the maid of honor and bridesmaids bouquets with 6 red roses the night before the wedding and made my bouquets of red and white roses the day of the wedding. I made the groomsmens boutineres the night before the wedding. I used red roses and I made the groom's the day of the wedding with a white rose.

Moms, dads, and grandparents flower I made out of fake flowers. It was cherry blossom stem with the tiny white flowers on it and a red flower of some sort.

We got our roses at Tom Thumb and they didn't cost anymore than 25$ a bouquet.

I can send you a picture of the fake flowers, if you PM me.

  • Alot of girls on the knot have DIY'ed them and had great results. I used silk, and only spent about $150, but I didn't have centerpieces and had a friend who's a professional florist help me with them. If you are up to DIY-ing it post on the knot board for sure. A few girls have the "story" of the flowers in their bios.

  • DIY is completely do-able, especially if you do silks.  If you buy out of season or on clearance racks you can get a steal of a deal.  Depends on how much time you have and how creative you are or want to be.  Some craft stores like Michael's offer classes on how to DIY.

If you want to DIY and use real flowers, Sam's or Costco have great deals on flowers.  Some girls have used Central Market florists and it is very reasonable as well.  Depends on which direction you want to go.  Hope this helps!

  • have you thought about non-floral centerpieces? Also when i was planning my vegas wedding some girls did non florals for the bridesmades. I remember one girl doing little baseball bats another did fans there were other but i can't remember right now. Depending on the style you are going for this might work
  • Nae82 just recently got married as did Almoyo.  They both did DIY flowers and they looked beautiful in their pictures!  Check out their bios.
  • A friend of mine did a Red and Brown color theme.  These are her centerpieces:

    coffee beans and red roses

and a couple of tables had tall branches with hanging crystals (bought at home depot, made for chandeliers) and a few red roses.
