Another coworker vent

I sent a meeting invite with a time, location and agenda.

And still coworker needed to come over twenty minutes before to ask if we are still meeting and where.

I really don't know why I bother.  No one else knows how to use a calendar.

Yesterday I declined three meeting invites from two different people because they were booked over meetings already in my calendar.  Both came back and said "We really need you to be there."  One, I was the only other person invited to the meeting.

Well then book it for when I'm not busy!  The blue in my calendar means BUSY!  Not to mention the one day, I only had two hours already booked so there was LOTS of choice.

Between this and the drive bys while I'm in the middle of something, like obviously typing or reading in the middle of something, I'm going to lose it.

Re: Another coworker vent

  • I totally hate that people don't check your calendar to see if you are available or not. I mean really how hard is it to take a second to look?
  • Are you in a position where it would be acceptable to present a little tutorial on how to use the outlook / lotus notes calendar? I did this one co-op term, because the office I was working at still used BOOKS to book their meeting rooms!!!
  • Unfortunately I'm not.

More then anything my irritation is probably just another indicator that it's probably time for me to move on.  I hate saying it because it's not like the job is terrible and I have a good team.  I just think it might be a bad fit and I'm probably a bit depressed since I'm feeling I don't have a whole lot of other options.  This is the first time I've said it "out loud".  I'm not in a good place emotionally right now, I'm struggling to figure out what the right thing is to do and it's taking a toll on me because I'm not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.

I know how ya feel! I have started feeling irritation at every little thing at work lately.. Usually this is when I start applying to another position but nothing is posted! I want to stay at the same company because I'm actually 5 years next year (woohoo another week of vacation)
  • I'm sorry you feel this way too, but it's nice to not feel alone at the same time.  I am discouraged by the lack of options.
