Cleaning Person

I'm thinking of hiring a cleaning person but was wondering what is a typical cost? I would have her/him come once a month to clean the floors, scrub the 2.5 bathrooms and kitchen, and dust. I'm in the Camp Hill / Mechanicsburg area and have an average 2-story, 4 bedroom traditional home. Thanks in advance.

Re: Cleaning Person

  • I don't have one personally but my mom does (she lives in Dillsburg) and the girl comes every other week does her 2 full bathrooms dusts and sweeps and mops all of her wood floors (get this the girl does the floors on her hands and knees - my mom has 2 black labs so I cannot imagine the hair) and it is like $40 a time. I really think it is all in who you call -- if you call a large company it will probably be more then someone who is independent.

  • We have one that comes weekly and charges $100 for a 4300 sf house. We really don't use two of the bedrooms or full baths though so those are really quick clean ups. I would imagine around $150 or so for that size and a little bit deeper cleaning. She has her own business and is bonded and insured.  We're in Enola.
  • Thanks ladies.

I assumed that going with a large company would be more expensive but I didn't realize how affordable an independant person MIGHT be. Thanks!

  • my MIL's cleaning lady is self employed and charges 75.00 per cleaning. SF is just about 7000.
  • i should say that since all the children moved out alot of the upstairs rooms are unused and only require a quick run through.  she cleans all the wood and tile floors (on hands and knees!) and will thoroughly clean all rooms that are used daily. also, this lady has been her cleaning lady for more than 10 years.  i am not sure if she charges more for new customers or not.  but, i seriously doubt that.
