Michael Vick....The newest EAGLE???

Oh, please tell me this isn't true!

There are certain crimes worth forgiving....but Michael Vick??? Gross!!!

Re: Michael Vick....The newest EAGLE???

  • A friend of mine just posted this on his FB page - I can't believe it.  Gross is right!
  • I am so embarrassed and sickened right now to call myself an Eagles fan.  This may sound stupid but I'm on the verge of tears over this.
  • Aw, Jen! You're adorable!

It is pretty horrible though. How do they get rid of a jerk like T.O. but let Michael Vick play?

    Way to stay classy Filthadelphia!

  • I have less respect for the Philadelphia Eagles than I did before and it was very little. I will never watch the Eagles play as long as Vick is on their team.  He deserves to have the same thing done to him as he did to those poor defenseless dogs.  He is a pig...no a pig is too good for him he is scum or whatever is way below scum.

  • DH and I were just talking about it.  I'm sorry for the Eagles fans who know have to deal with this.  I know it's not your fault at all, but I wouldn't want to support a team that supported him.

    It's very sad to see.

  • Ugh - ditto spunkie on the respect point.  I wouldn't have watched the Eagles in the first place, but regardless... ick.  Poor choice on their part.

Again, glad to bleed black & gold.

  • Not sure what the lack of respect for them before is all about but I can see why this would affect ones thoughts on them now.

I know someone out there is probably thinking "He's served his time" and I get that but that doesn't mean I want him on my team or in the NFL for that matter.

I'll honestly still stick with my team but that doesn't mean I support this decision at all.  Its going to be a long 2 years and I sincerely hope its not extended and McNabb stays healthy.

  • This makes me soo sick to my stomach. I hope there are protestors out front during their first game. I was a fan...no longer. Pushed me to the Redskins now. How could they?!

I completely agree. Like I said, there are some crimes worth forgiving, but this...isn't one of them.

It kind of reminds me of Mike Tyson. Sure, let him beat his wife to a pulp. What's an ear here and there?  As long as money is coming in, who cares?

     GRRRRR....

  • Not trying to start anything, but Steelers fans be careful not to throw stones...whether or not you choose to believe the lawsuit against Big Ben, your quarterback isn't exactly squeaky clean these days either....

As for Vick, sorry Eagles fans.

  • I can't believe any team signed him.  I guess any publicity is good publicity.

It'll be interesting to see how the notorious Eagles fans react...

As for Big Ben - I just think the guy is really dumb.  I know he's a good QB, but man, he just does dumb stuff.  Even before all the concussions.

  • DH turned off the exhibition game tonight after he found out Vick was signed. That's BIG. I don't know if he'll watch the season.

I'm not a football buff but I've always been for the Eagles. Yet I just can't reconcile this one. Sure Vick went to jail, but people that hurt animals have serious issues.

What kills me is these sports people need to go to practice, put thier time in, play a game, and collect big paychecks. So shut up, don't be a jerk and be grateful you have a chance most people will never have, get your money, and retire with some dignity. Sure you get a lot of attention, but it's a job, so treat it like one.

  • ok, let me preface - I"ve had a few beers watching the first Steelers game.  So I'm not trying to "start" anything against Eagle fans.

RE: Michael Vick and the Eagles.  ha ha.  I'm sorry, I hate the Eagles.  I'm thankful he didn't end up with the Steelers.  Call me greedy but......

RE:  Big Ben.  I thought that he looked fat tonight.  Charlie Batch is my hero.  Dixon looked great.

    Here we go......

Um there's a big difference between some of the dumb *** that Big Ben does and what Vick did.  Like someone else...I think Big Ben has taken one too many to the head.  Besides in the NFL these days there aren't too many guys who are completely squeaky clean.

I feel bad for the Eagles fans like Jen who have supported their team faithfully but yet now have to have this low life waste of space on their team.  I think he should of never been allowed to play the sport again.  Period.   I'm disappointed in the Eagles for signing him and disappointed in the NFL for allowing him back.

And I could care less what he has to say on Sunday night in his little 60 minutes interview.

I turned it off as well...and I was really looking forward to the game.  I couldn't stand to hear them repeating his name.

I seriously would rather have T.O. back anyday than Vick...ever.

  • I may watch the interview just because I want to hear both sides, although it will not change my opinion.

What I find disturbing is seeing people's reactions on FB. DH posted he threw away a jersey he had for years and he would not be watching the season because he can't stand behind the decision, and one of his "friends" said, "You're a loser. I am happy you stick to your word. And I hope you can sleep tidey with your principles, all snuggled up."

    Wow. Indifferent

And how does one "sleep tidey" anyway?

I know I enjoyed the snide comment I got on my status from a person I haven't seen since elementary school. Really?

  • It is pretty pathetic isn't it? First of all, I don't think that anyone that has a criminal record should be able to play any sport. If any of us "regular people" had one, we'd be working in like, 7 / 11. Plus, those sports guys are suppose to be role models. What kind of example is he and the Eagles team sending for the behavior presented? I think it's absolutely disgusting.

This is the exact same thing my boss said when we were discussing it last week.  This shows kids that celebrities and professional athletes get a slap on the wrist and get to continue with their lives yet the normal person would never get as many second chances.
