Storing a Blizzard?

So here's my dilemma today... I have an appt and it's right near a local DQ. Today is the blizzard day where a portion of proceeds goes to the local children's mirable network. I always get one on these days... but if I got one after the appoitment, it would be before dinner... so can I keep it in the freezer for a little while without ruining the smoothness?

The devil on my shoulder wants me to have it for dinner, but that would really be counter productive to getting me to eat better...

you know I'm getting nothing done when all I'm thinking about is how to store a blizzard!

Re: Storing a Blizzard?

  • If you are freezing it for more then an hour.. Yes.. it will become hard and be flavoured ice cream not blizzard... if that makes sense!

EAT it right away... dinner after.. there isnt anything wrong with having dessert first!

  • Yeah I have put them in the freezer before... It just gets harder so it's not as spoon-able as a "fresh" blizzard - but still edible!!!!!
  • I stick mine in the freezer but, if it's in there for longer than about 45 minutes, it tends to freeze pretty solid, thereby ruining the smoothness...lol Good luck????
  • You could try microwaving it on a really low temperature for a short while to see if it will thaw. Either way, it's still a blizzard. I'd take it, hard as a rock vs. not at all.

Get one with peanut butter and then you've got protein and calcium and shouldn't feel guilty if you are too full for dinner.  Besides, you live too far from DQ and it will be too melty by the time you get home.
  • I have a DQ only 10 houses up the street Tongue Tied

    must.... resist.... the urge!!!!

  • It has become a tradition in our house to have ice cream for supper on Blizzard/Miracle Network day.

Tonight it's a double bonus for DS - we're going to get DQ for supper and then go to a parade!

  • I freeze them all the time. When I am ready to eat it I just take it out of the freezer and let it thaw a bit and then it is just like it was before I put it in the freezer.
  • I missed the great debate yesterday. What did you decide?
  • I ate it as soon as I got home... in all it's skor/soft serve goodness! Now to refrain until next year :)
