Realtors, real estate people, please come in!!

We were just talking to our next door neighbors and I asked them if they had ever had any problems with bats.  They started laughing and said, "No, but they sure had a big problem at your house last summer.....they didn't tell you???"  I'm so mad!!!  Had I known this was an issue before I wouldn't have brushed it off since we haven't seen the bats in 2 weeks.  My question is.....this was never disclosed to us.  Is it something that should have been?  Should I be contacting our realtor?  Or just suck it up and pay for someone to get out here quickly!!!  TIA!!!!!

Re: Realtors, real estate people, please come in!!

  • I am not a real estate person, but as long as the bats didn't cause any structural damage and they believed the situation was taken care of, they don't have to disclose that they once had a problem.
  • Bats do not have to be discloses.  Only termites, water damage, radon, etc.  Bats, mice, stray cats, crappy neighbors, etc. do not have to be disclosed.
  • I'm pretty sure Sex Offenders don't have to be disclosed either. That's something you have to look up on your own.
