Family drama *sigh*

So, to make a long story short, my dad's family (his mom and siblings) suck. His mother is the most uncaring, unloving, *** I've ever met (yea, she's my grandmother, but I don't have to like her). My father is the nicest guy and bend over backwards for everyone and she just continues to *** on him and his family. Needless to say I've disowned her many years ago. Anyway, apparently my brother's future wife (getting married in Nov) is all buddy buddy with her and one of my dads brother's wife who sit around bad mouthing my mom and our family. My mom let the fact the the FI is friends with them and just tried to have a relationship with her, but after a recent visit to my brother's in FL my mom got into a big argument with the FI and they said some hurtful things to each other and of course my mom told me everything and it makes me hate these people more. So, being the root of all the evil is my father's mother, she sent my father and ME to his mother's house to confront her and of course I hate the lady and told her what I thought of her and her family. Anyway, I'm soooo done with this entire family and don't want to go to my brother's wedding in November. What would you do? *sigh*

Re: Family drama *sigh*

  • Forget about your family, forget about this woman, forget even about his future wife.  I would go just for your brother's sake.  Sounds like he's not really part of this whole thing.

Could you go to DW after just to have something to look forward to while you're there?

  • My brother isn't completely innocent. He tends to be a complusive liar and lies to my mom and family about things, plus he's the one telling my mother things about his financial problems and stress etc., then my mom gives advice and he doesn't like it, so he is a bit of an idiot. He left a very well paying job here to go to nothing in FL. He doesn't have a job, his gf is working 2 and meanwhile they want this extravagant wedding. Where are your priorities people?

I already have the plane tickets for fri-sun, so we'll be there for 2 days and be gone.

  • I am so sorry you are having some problems with the family. I hate stuff like that. Why can't we all just get along huh? I agree with Amy, just go for your brother's sake and avoid the rest of them and their drama and head back home quickly. Sorry...

  • Oh, Bonnie, this stinks!! Sad But i agree, if you can stomach it, go to your brother's wedding. If sh*t starts flying, stay out of it, have fun, and then come back home to us!! Big Smile

  • Oh man this just plain sucks. I hate family drama! I agree with people just go for your bro's sake. If you go you can never regret not going...if you go and there's drama at least you made the attempt. You can always look back and say "yeah it sucked but I was a good person, I was there." Just go and get the h*ll outa there as soon as you can...and "report back" to us!!Wink  Good luck

  • Thanks for the support ladies. I'm pretty sure I'll wind up going to the wedding and it's not so much for my brother as it is for my mom...I don't want to see her upset. And don't worry, I'll be sure to report back here...especially if fists start flying. lol jk (I think) =/

  • So I'm a little late on here, but I have to agree with the ladies, this sucks! Sometimes reading these kinds of posts I realize how good I have it (and I complain about my mom getting on my nerves all the time, lol). I'm sorry. I'd go to the wedding too, but just stay as far away from all the craziness and drama as possible. And yes, report back. And you never know, it could be better than you're expecting.
  • nothing new to add, just I'm sorry you are dealing with this!!

  • I'm really late here, but if it wasn't for your mom, I'd say, don't go. It doesn't sound like you'd regret missing your bro's wedding, so why bother. But going to support your mom is a totally worthy cause.

Get in, get cake, get out. And........Have good hotel sex.

That is about the best you can make of the situation.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this crappola.
