Dinner recommendations...

Hi Guys!

DH and I are looking to go out to dinner for our 1 year anniversary and we want something nice with really good food. Thought I'd ask you ladies!!

Any recs??  We've been to Gramercy Tavern otherwise that would have been a great spot.

PS- I keep a NYC food blog if anyone is interested!

Re: Dinner recommendations...

  • Congrats on your anniversary!! Party!!!

DH and i have taken a liking to One if By Land. It's pricey and super yummy and a little old school, i think jackets are required. We stumbled upon it for our first dating anniversary and will probably go in 1.5months for our first *wedding* anniversary! Check out their website cuz i believe they're giving away gift cards for their anniversary. I got one and it's for $30 off!

  • If you want something kind of romantic but casual go to Paul and Jimmy's on 18th Street just off of Irving Place.  It has great Italian food, reasonable prices and their cheesecake is hands down one of the best I've ever eaten.

If you want a more pubby atmosphere, go to Pete's Tavern on 18th I Irving - their coconut shrimp is delish.  If you are looking for a great steak, the The Capitol Grill on 42nd between 3rd & Lex is really good and they have a kick a$$ creme brulee.  There's also Morton's steak house which is pricier but they have a great chocolate lava cake. (as you can see, I love dessert).

I know you'll get some recs for the trendier places but I've eaten in a lot of places and found that these places are no better, only more expensive, than the lesser known "local" places.

  • ... oops The Nest sent my reply too soon :)

But Thanks! And keep 'em coming!  I've heard of One if By Land but never been...

  • If you are looking for romance One if By Land Two if By Sea is great (although I am biased b/c DH proposed there) also - the downstairs Jazz room at Blue Water Grill is great.
