Flip camera.....

who has one?  and do you like them?  Tell me its pros and cons??? Thanks! :-)

Re: Flip camera.....

  • We have one, well HAD one...it mysteriously disappeared last week (we think Sarah hid it somewhere and we just haven't found it yet) and we are TOTALLY missing it.

We love it...it's small enough to carry around in my purse (or diaper bag) so I can catch video all the time.  The sound and picture quality is fine (you can check out my blog for examples - all except the most recent one, that was done with our regular digital camera).  The application is easy to use.  The price is reasonable.  Not sure the HD (for more money) is worth it..our friends have one and post videos on their blog and they look the same as our non-hd videos.  Oh...and it's sturdy as heck.  I can't tell you how many times I've dropped it or Sarah's thrown it...there are nicks and scratches all over it and we've never had a problem.  It also takes regular AA batteries, which is nice.  We bought some friends who also have one a waterproof cover so they were even able to take it scuba diving with them - the videos were amazing!

C bought a new one today (which will pretty much guarantee we find the old one)...I can't wait!

  • Oh yeah...cons...can't really think of any...it's only 60 minutes?  We've never done a 60 minute video...they're usually short/fast ones catching Sarah doing something "amazing", so we've never even reached the 60 minute mark on it.  :-)

  • pros:everything!

    cons: nothing!

I have the cheaper one that does 30 minutes and I would hate to live without it!

  • great question :)

    been wondering about those

  • we love ours. Check out my blog (link in siggy) All the videos on there are from my flip. We have the Ultra (i think?) LIke Lori said it doesn't have long recording time so not for school plays or anything. But perfect for catching those baby moments.

Another small con-no memory card, so if you take it on vacation or something you'll need to download it onto a computer if you want to free up more memory.

Keep a lookout on woot.com and amazon daily deals. We've seen it on both for really good deals. In fact next time we see it on there we are going to buy another one. So one for the house and one that stays in the diaper bag.

  • I don't have a Flip, but I have something similar. It is the Aiptek. I love it. I have info on it on my blog: http://sillystuffandfluff.blogspot.com/2009/03/my-b-day-gift.html

My dad even liked it so much that he went out and bought one too. DH got it at Target. In my blog I wrote about some of the differences to the Flip. In my baby blog you will see some of the videos. I keep it in the diaper bag with us,

  • MH has used the HD one and loves it.  We plan to buy one soon.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Love Love my flip. Can't really think of a con.

  • After today, I so now want one!!!
  • We have the same one Sher has and love it. The con to the flip was that there is that you can't use external memory which was a deal breaker for us. The Aiptek one is great for us and our many adventures with nieces and nephews. If the flip would let you use external memory I would have two.
