Recommend your affordable skin care products

Recently I've noticed my skin has been breaking out more- more blackheads, more blotches, etc. I used to just use Clearasil and that was great, but I'm thinking it's not cutting it anymore.

I can't spend a fortune on fancy skin care stuff, so I'd love recommendations for drug-store brand products. I think I have combination skin.

Thanks!

Re: Recommend your affordable skin care products

  • Cetaphil and Spectro Facewash are amazing! They are reasonably priced and work quite well. For an exfoliant, I like St. Ives Apricot scrub.

  • Is it very recently? (last couple weeks or so?) I switch to a stronger soap made for oily skin when it's humid in the summer. Normally I use clinique mild soap but on humid days I use the one for oily skin. (I have combination skin). Even though it's Clinique, it is actually affordable. You can get 3 small bars of soap for $18 and it last me like 2 years (as long as I don' tlose any!!!). They also have it in liquid form but I don't like the scent of the liquid one (because it reminds me of a soap factory I used to work in). I also use toner and moisturizer. I used to use the Clinique toner but now I just use Clearasil (the pink one) because I go through it pretty quick so the price difference is noticeable, and the Clearasil one is fine... I use Aveeno positively radiant moisturizer around my eyes and it has sunscreen in it.
  • I've always had great success with Neutrogena products; they make a very good acne wash.

  • I use Aveeno Naturals and love them. I use the facial cleanser in the AM and PM along with the moisturizer. Once a week I use the exfoliating cleansing pads.
  • I use the Aveeno face wash too and like it.

I also use the cheepie shoppers drug mart brand face wipes for taking off make up etc. They are like $5 a box when they're on sale (which is often). They are my favourite.

  • Another vote for the Cetaphil.  The Clinque stuff was too hard on my skin, I reacted even to the line for sensitive skin, my sister swears by it though.
  • I use a Neutrogena wash with little scrubbies that I really like. I tried SpectroJel & Cetaphil for awhile but they weren't cutting it. I do have a Cetaphil for oily skin in my gym bag that is pretty good though. I like Dove Daily Moisturizing Lotion (I think that's what it's called) with SPF 15 in the blue box for a moisturizer - it's light, and much cheaper than Neutrogena.
