Thoughts on Vick signing with the Eagles?

I'm disgusted in our city for putting winning and money before morals.  I understand that he payed his time, but what he did was wrong and immoral and he doesn't deserve to make 10 million dollars now.

Re: Thoughts on Vick signing with the Eagles?

  • I agree with you 100%. I am so disgusted that the Eagles would sign him.
  • The NFL should have never allowed him back in also.  If you commit a felony you should be banned.
  • I totally agree.  I told DH last night (when he got home from the game) that I am boycotting the Eagles!
  • Since it's not an NFL rule (and there are people playing who have been implicated in murders and rapes), I'm not opposed to him trying to play again, but I just don't think this move was anywhere near worth it for the Eagles. I don't see how he really fits into the team and adds anything to our offense without taking away from McNabb or Kolb, who needs training.

We in no way needed a qb and therefore are shooting ourselves in the foot by bringing in unnecessary drama. Even if Vick doesn't play 5 minutes and we win the Super Bowl, it will be tainted by having to hear about him every.single.game.

Obviously I'm opposed to him as a person, wish he got more punishment, but I won't say he can't play anywhere. I just wish it wasn't here for personal and team reasons.

  • I just don't think someone who could be that cruel to any living thing should be allowed back into such a priveledged life like an NFL player has. I am a huge animal rights person, and just cannot stand by the Eagles organization for hiring him~and mrs.kapow I completely agree with your reasoning too. Of all the positions that the Eagles need, did we really need another quaterback, especially one that is usually the main quarterback and not a second string? Its insane! And another thing that really bothers me, is the Eagles decided not to resign Brian Dawkins, an excellent player and an excellent community service person~but they will sign on this scumbag. To me it says a lot about the Eagles management. Disgusting.

  • I think the Eagles are idiots for signing him!!!   They are loosing ALOT of fans b/c of it...I for one refuse to watch them.

My fiancee and I were saying last week that a team would have to be pretty desperate to sign him and the EAGLES did!!!!!!!!

  • WOW, just WOW!  to me this man should be living in horse manure.  i have no tolerance to anyone involved with cruelty to dogs!

I said almost the exact same thing to my H in the car coming home from the game last night. I'm not a huge football fan in general and last night was my first game. But once the news started to spread, most people weren't paying attention to the game anymore. The negative publicity and possible protests are going to be a huge distraction.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • I have no clue what the eff he's doing in Philly.  This was literally the worst choice for him. We don't need another QB and the whole thing is disgraceful.

I think he's scum for what he did to animals for 6 years.  In no way is he a 'reformed' man just because he spent 2 years in jail.

What a huge dirtbag.  I don't think anyone in Philly is going to welcome him with open arms.

  • I'm a bit late but I am beyond disgusted at the Eagles.  I grew up with the Eagles.  I was a die hard eagles fan.  But when I heard the news yesterday, I am no longer an eagles fan.  I stayed loyal after all the bad stuff they did in the past, but I said if they ever signed him, i'm done.  And that's what I am, I'm done with the Eagles.  He has no remorse whatsoever.  I really didn't want him playing in the league, but I knew that was going to happen.  I came to terms with that, but he didn't have to be playing in Philly.  It just shows what disregard they have for the fans, or what's left of them.
  • I think it's a stupid move and I think he's an awful person. That being said, I wont stop watching the Eagles. I don't understand how the team benefits from signing him - I feel like it can only hurt us. It's something the Cowboys would do, not the Eagles. We should have let them pick him up.
  • I don't believe for one second that he's rehabilitated. He admitted that he's been involved in dog fighting since he was a young child. We're supposed to believe that after 18 months in jail and absolutely no therapy he's 100% "recovered" and repentent? Don't think so. He's doing what most scumbags in his situations would be doing - saying whatever he thinks the public wants to hear so he can get what he wants.

Jeffrey Lurie said that the organization will be on top of Vick to make sure he is very involved in the community and with the Humane Society. I hope that wasn't just a line, but I'm thinking it probably was. FWIW, I think Vick needs to still be in jail, then should be in therapy for a few years. And he never should have been allowed back in the NFL.

  • As an animal lover, the Eagles will not see one penny of my hard earned money.  They need us, we don't need them.  I am disgusted with the Eagles but more so with the NFL.  He should have never been re-instated as an athlete.  My love for animals ranks a lot higher than football.  It is a huge distraction for all of the other Eagle's players who have worked hard and played by the rules.  We are once again the laughing joke of the NFL and the season is already over before it even started...what a joke. I blame Ried and the owner....what a HUGE mistake which will take years to overcome for the majority of fans.
