? from a Jersey girl

Hi girls...I'm taking my H into NYC next weekend to see the Lion King and the Phillies/Mets game.  Could you suggest a really good restaurant in the theater district?  Steakhouse, Italian, American cuisine....really not picky.  I posted a while back on the travel board but looking for more suggestions.

Thanks!!!

  • Well, I tend to stay away from midtown. To touristy for me to be honest so I can't recomend any well kept secret but I do love Bubba Gump Shrimp Co that right there in Tomes Square. It's really a fun place and alot of cute atmosphere. If you want to play on that sports theme for the night there's a Dave & Buster's there and also the ESPN zone where you can eat. Hope that helps.

  • I like Becco, owned by Lydia Bastianich (of PBS cooking show fame)  great food, reasonable prices.

Another favorite of mine in that neighborhood is Thalia, great contemporary menu and vibe.

Touristy favorites:  Carmine's, Mangia yi Bevi

  • For steak in that area try Gallagher's or Frankie & Johnny's
  • We had a GTG at Becco and it was absolutely delicious!!! We had another GTG at Thalia and I've ate their on my own a few time and that is also really good.

  • I like 5 Napkin Burger, and Bistecca Florentina, depending on what you're in the mood for.  Have fun!
  • I really like Marseilles (I know I am not spelling it right) when I go to the theater.  The food is delicious and they even have a reasonably priced prix-fix menu.  If you want something casual, I like Film Center Cafe or 5 Napkin Burger.
