She said baby look healthy. Measuring 4 or 5 days behind, which concerned me a bit, as I've never measured behind like that. Plus, it's not like my dates are off. We can time conception to the minute, so I'm not sure what to think.
As for the sex - the tech was sure it was a boy. Then decided it was the umbilical cord. Then was certain it was a girl, then a boy and then a girl. Then pointed a line and said "see, girl part". I asked what girl part and she kept giggling and saying "girl part". When I said "i thought you were supposed to see three lines for a girl and she said "ah, three lines - girl part".
And then I cried. I was so excited to find out and I just don't trust her judgment. I was really upset. I've had a really hard time accepting this as reality and I was hoping that once I knew the sex, I could start planning and buying things and that maybe I'd bond a little better with the baby. I think I'm going to book at 3D ultrasound. There's a place near by that has a quick gender assessment - that's all I need.
Re: Had big U/S this morning.
argh, sorry you had a frustrating experience regarding the gender. Do you get official feedback through your doctor next week?
I think a 3d u/s would be good to put your mind at ease and get onto planning
Oh, don't worry about meauring behind by a few days, ultrasounds are not 100% accurate, it's +/- two weeks I think, or at least that's what the report said when my doctor showed me my big u/s report.
Sometimes it's really hard to see the sex due to the baby's positioning. I am sure a 3D u/s will give you a final determination. There is a place called UC baby that does 3D u/s and they have various locations.
Good luck!
How exciting!!! I?m sure that seeing your little one again also helped those tears
I would 100% book the 3D u/s. DH and I are also going to find out the sex (next Friday hopefully) and what you just described is one of my fears! So I want to make SURE of what he/she is!! AND it?s another excuse to see him/her! I forget where you live ? I think west of T.O. anyways are you going to use UCBaby? I think the 4D package is the best one..I know it?s a bit pricey but DH and I really want it (Him more than me). We?re also doing the extra $25 for the DVD?.our families want to see it too and since I can?t bring 40 ppl with me to a u/s this is the best thing!
I?m happy that everything else looks good for you.
Re: the 4/5 days behind ? is this the same tech from your other u/s? Maybe she measures weirdly, KWIM?
Different tech, external this time vs transvaginal at the last one and CRL measurement at the last one vs Hadlock measurement this time. Who knows.
Good to hear that everything is good with your LO.
In the end I was measuring 2w2d behind which I don't think was accurate at all so I wouldn't worry about measuring 4-5 days behind. The measurements have so many + - to them that they aren't really all that accurate.
Don't worry about the measurements. It is only accurate really early in a pregnancy.
I can totally relate to your gender frustrations. The tech was only 70% kinda sure so I decided to book the 3D U/S to find out in a few weeks. It will make me feel better since we really wanted to know this time.
You have to do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
I am so sorry you had such a frustrating experiance. I would totally go for the 3D U/S also!
Oh and don't worry about measuring behind. I measured 6 days behind but delivered one day before my DD
That's frustrating!
I totally think you're having a girl! Have fun with the 3D, it sounds cool!
I'm sorry the tech was so air-headed. The 3/D will give you the answers you need, and I'm excited to hear!
Don't worry about being a few days behind in measurement. I measured bang on in the beginning but at my big u/s I was almost a week behind. Dani's just a short kid - but you saw her - healthy and happy!
