Vacation Ideas -Possibly Pet Friendly

DH and I are looking for some end of summer vacation opportunities.  We would love to be able to take our dog along as well.  Our usual dog friendly getaway in Asheville NC is booked. WEare looking for about 6 hour max drive.   Any ideas?

  • I know my sister and her DH take their dog and go to Gatlinburg for the weekend sometimes. You have to look a little bit harder for pet-friendly cabins, but according to her they aren't too hard to find (and they have a rottie). Good luck!

  • What's the area out by Athens?  Hocking Hills?  I think a few of the cabins out there allow pets.  Klimpton Hotels allow pets, they're a mini chain of boutique hotels.  I think the closest locations are DC and maybe chicago.

  • If you do go to Hocking Hills, we stay at Old Man's Haven with our dogs when we go. The cabins are very... traditionally decorated... but they are clean and in a pretty setting. The owners are very nice. We have a good time when we go.

If you go, eat at the Grouse Nest Restaurant nearby. So yummy.

  • Chicago is extremely pet friendly... We've taken our dog there a couple of times. At Brasserie Jo (French restaurant) your dog can sit at the table with you! They even bring a little water bowl for them.

  • Thanks for all the great ideas!  I hadn't thought about Hocking Hills.  We went there last fall and found it very relaxing - Thank you!
