Pic of our New Rescue Dog!

I have been posting lately about our new venture with this very untrained rescue that we just adopted last week.  She is much much improved even after just 1 week with us.  We are very regimented and scheduled.  My H won't even feed the dogs an hour early.  He'd rather feed them late than early to keep them on a better schedule!  And he ALWAYS takes them outside with the same schedule.

So this is Mia.  She is a pug mix.  She was born at a puppy mill in Indiana.  The conditions were horrible and she eventually was too old to be adopted so "someone" (the rescue lady suspected it was the woman who ran the puppy mill) called the rescue to have some puppies picked up.

And the JRT mix is our other dog, Murray.  They are both 7mos old and love to chew on all of the toys in our house.  Just this morning they were BOTH chewing on a Wubba at the same time.  So cute.  I love how they are learning to share!

Re: Pic of our New Rescue Dog!

  • Hi Mia puppy!  Congratulations to you guys for resuing her.  What a good life she will have, even if it didn't start out that way.  And how fun for Murray - a buddy!  May you have many years of love and fun with both of them. Enjoy!

  • YesYes for rescuing!

You will be amazed in 6 months how different your dog will seem compared to what she is now.

I think back to when we rescued our husky mix in 2007. He was skinny, didn't know his name, had fleas everywhere and was like a scared little baby. Now he's as crazy as his "brothers" like he's always lived here.

And I can tell he appreciates us for giving him a better life. I'm sure your dog will too.  Big Smile

  • she is super skinny.  and the funny thing is--the lady at the rescue gave us some of her food to mix in with our food (we feed a high quality grain free food approved for puppies and adult dogs) and she wouldn't eat ANY of the rescue food and would only eat our food!

so I think she's going to fatten up and get more muscular.  Murray is very very muscular from the high quality food!

  • How cute!  Mia and Murray are both adorable, congrats on the new puppy!
  • They are both SO cute!! Kudos to you for being brave enough to take on 2 puppies at once!

  • Oh that face!  Is she a "puggle?"  Or some other designer breed (aka mutt)?  And what food do you feed them?  Anyway, scratch their bellies for me!

  • we feed Dog Lovers Gold.  We buy it at Anderson Family Pet Center.  I know it wasn't cheap, but we only feed about 1.5 cups per dog per day, so it lasts for a very long time!  If you feed a high quality food you feed less because there are less fillers.

Our dogs LOOOOOOOVE it and it's a very high quality all natural pet food.  I could never remember the name.

Here is a link about the food:

  • Awesome for feeding a high quality food.

Much better than that grocery store dog food. Ick!

  • she does look like pug/beagle mix but she isn't.  she is more likely pug/rat terrier or pug/chihuahua.  she is very small (less than 10lbs) so I dont think it's beagle.  I think she'd be 25 lbs if it was beagle.

Like I said, there are definitely some downsides to have a mixed breed dog.  For example, her teeth are all messy especially on the bottom because there isn't enough room in her skinny snout for all of the big pug teeth she's supposed to have.  That's where it gets iffy when you mix breeds.  Not everything falls into place.
