WDYT? re: Restaurant Week
My two best girlfriends are coming into town Thurs-Sun of this week, and I thought it would be fun to go to dinner at one of the participating restaurants. The only thing is one of them will be bringing their 7 week old baby down. Do you think it would be inappropriate to bring a baby to these nice restaurants? Are there some restaurants that would be better suited for a baby than others? I'm guessing that there are some that are more family-oriented. Any recommendations? I feel so dumb for asking this, but DH and I never dine out at really nice restaurants so I'm just not sure....lol. TIA!
Re: WDYT? re: Restaurant Week
I don't know much about babies but it seems to me a 7 week old baby would be okay at pretty much any restaurant as long as you chose a time when they are normally asleep, if such a time exsists. Even still I don't think the sound of newborn crying really bothers too many people
The restaurants that I have been to on the RW week list that would be best for covering up the noise a baby might make, if that is what you are worried about, would be Victory Tavern and Lonesome Dove because they are more open air and not as quite
I agree w/ pp that I think it would be ok to bring the baby. It won't be that much of a distraction to others.
However, DH and I are going this Friday to Del Frisco's and he called several other restaurants 2 weeks ago and some were already sold out so if you do want to go I would start calling to see if any are available.
When my kid was 7 weeks old she would NOT sleep anywhere but at home, so restaurants were a nightmare for us. Of course, I've always hated crying babies at restaurants so taking her to one and being "that mom" was totally karma.
if i'm shelling out that much for a meal, it's going to be uninterrupted. and what baby says goes, so when baby says "let's go", you gotta jet.
There are definitely RW restaurants that I think are a lot more casual, but those are the ones I wouldn't do RW at bc they tend to cost $35 or less on a normal night so it's not really worth it.
I'd talk to your friend and see what she thinks. If it's going to make her nervous and she wouldn't enjoy the evening, there are a million fun casual restaurants in DFW you could go without having to worry about it. Then make T take you out for a nice restaurant week date when they leave!
