Traffic question - 95N on a Friday afternoon

One of my sister's bridesmaids is flying into PHL for the shower on a Friday, arriving around 4.30pm. I'm imagining traffic is going to be atrocious... does anyone know for sure? I'd be taking 95N from the airport to Center City.

Re: Traffic question - 95N on a Friday afternoon

  • It will most likely be pretty horrible if you're anywhere near the Walt on a Friday afternoon.  Because of the construction and the shore traffic it will be pretty slow.
  • Ugh.. I can imagine. I'm debating asking her to take one of the Regional trains into Suburban Station and picking her up from there. I take off Fridays specifically for this reason.
  • I've gone 95N into the city after work plenty of times and it's not too bad. I don't think I've done it on a Friday afternoon in the summer, though.
  • Going north won't be bad.  Coming back south you will sit in insane amounts of traffic.
  • Wait, 95S is bad? I thought N would be bad from the airport because of the  merge with the Walt Whitman/42 (shore traffic).

I'll be driving to the airport from SNJ (via 42), and ending in center city Phila. I thought 95N after the airport would be bad.

I'm thinking about taking 76 from the airport to Penrose instead.

  • nope it's South that is bad b/c of traffic coming home from Philly. I drive by it every time I head into center city for dinner after work (I come from 476 to 95N). It does get backed up a little on 95N by Walt Whitman, but as long as you're not getting off there you should be OK.
