Will Kroger do Custom Cakes ?? / recommend an affordable baker (NKy / eastside)

Nothing really fancy, square cake, two layers, some fondant. Also need custom cupcakes to match.

It's for DD's 1st BDay.

DH wants me to go to Kroger or Sams or something because he's convinced it'll be cheaper. But I have my heart set on a design I found online. Trying to compromise by finding the most affordable (but good) baker I can.

TIA!

  • I am pretty sure that they both stick to certain desings that you can pick from. I did notice the Biggs near where I work now has a cake center which makes me wonder if they so custom cakes.

With that being said. I got my wedding cake from Fantasy in Frosting. I bet you could get a really cute inexpensive cake from there.

  • Call Peggy with affordable wedding creations, in Covington.  I got a cake from her for a shower once and it only cost 40 or 50. It was two tier.....enough to serve about 50 people.

  • I second Affordable Wedding Creations. I needed a half sheet cake for a baby shower and her price was only a dollar more than sams. Peggy  copied a napkin that I dropped off. She did an amazing design job!
  • I am pretty sure Kroger does NOT do fondant.  They have great cakes though.

I would check with Fantasy in Frosting.  Their cakes taste great and look great.  They can do anything.  They did our groom's cake and it was less than $60.

  • My SIL bakes delicious cakes and recently learned how to do fondant.

  • Also check out A Spoon Fulla Sugar in Montgomery area.  They make some very yummy cakes and cupcakes!
  • I just checked w/ DH since he works at a Kroger store, Kroger definitely does not do custom cakes. He said to try a local bakery, like Fantasy in Frosting.

  • Fantasy in Frosting in Newport (on Monmouth) will do anything you want including fancy cupcakes. I've gotten lots of cakes from them, not to mention my delicious wedding cake.
