Hey there!
My H and I just moved to NYC, and although I haven't been on the nest in ages, I thought I'd come check in with you ladies since this seems to be a fairly active board!
About me: been married for a couple of years, moved to the city for H's job (he just graduated from grad school). I am currently jobless and procrastinating about it.
Prior to moving here we lived in Boston. Since we were both between school/jobs, we spent most of the summer traveling - it was awesome!
No kids (and none in the works), just one sweet, fat cat. The biggest challenge of my life currently if figuring out how to fit all of our stuff in to this tiny, tiny (but cute!) apartment.
Look forward to chatting with you all!

Re: Hello! New in town
Hi and Welcome!! where did you move to in the city?
Throughout our 4 years in the city we seem to be constantly getting rid of stuff - we've definitely downsized our belongings so many times! That and you get really creative about storage.
Hi Shelby! Welcome. Although I am originally from Upstate NY, I moved here in 2002 from Boston as well. Brookline to be exact. This board ebbs and flows, but all the ladies are great. We have GTGs every now and then. Good luck with the apartment and finding a job.

Were you born/raised in the Boston area? DH grew up 40mins outside of Boston in NH...so we're Red Sox fans...sshhh!!
I've only driven through and by Boston and i think it's gorgeous!
What kind of work are you looking to get in to?

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Liza - Our apt is in the West Village (I think? Or maybe NoHo?). I am still learning the neighborhoods! We're close to the W 4th subway stop. I love, love, love the area so far and still can't believe that we found a place here in our budget! I guess the kicker is that we're on the 6th floor of a walkup. It hasn't been too bad so far though! I'm considering it part of the fitness plan.
Meggie - Not from Boston originally, just spent two years there. It's a cool city though! As for work I am not sure. I've worked in accounting/finance as a consultant since college, but I'm not sure it's exactly my dream job so I'm exploring other options. I'd love something where I can be a little more creative and have some flexibility so that when we do have kiddos one day, I can work around it. My old job was long hours and travel, travel, travel.
Nova - We were mostly in SE Asia. Cambodia and Vietnam and then a week in Hong Kong. It was amazing - beautiful and SO cheap (well except for HK). We were so lucky to be able to take time off to take a long trip, I'm sure there won't be too many other opportunities like that.

Late as usual! Welcome!!
I'm a little late here as well...I think I just missed this post. =/ But anyway, welcome to the NYC and the board. We definitely are a bunch of lovely ladies.
Also, I am the proud mommy of 4 wonderful kitties (I'm in Staten Island, so I can get away with that...I'm not sure if you can/want to fit 4 cats in an apartment in Manhattan). =/
