A PSA to those who ride the subway

Not that you shouldn't use caution all the time in the city, but please be on guard especially when riding the subway alone. This man (see article below) targets women or effeminate men traveling by themselves. Attacks have occurred both during the day and at night, in different boroughs, and on different lines (mostly near stops at the end of the line). To be on the safe side, it is best to travel in either the first car (near the motorman) or the conductor's car (usually in the middle of the train; look for a white and black horizontally striped bar hanging from the ceiling near the edge of the platform, like this:)

As usual, be aware of your surroundings.

Yeah, I can't wait either. What a creep! Good point about sitting in the first car, I always do this when I am out alone late at nights. But could you go over the middle car thing...where would the symbol be exactly coz this is good to know.

The bar pictured above is hanging from the ceiling along the track at the place where the conductor is when the trains stops at the station. So as you're walking along the platform, look for that bar. Does that make it clearer?
