airline discounts

we usually fly southwest, but at this point I would tie a bunch of balloons together if it would save us money.

We're thinking of flying the week before thanksgiving (due to P new work schedule). With SW it will cost $480.

Does anyone happen to know of any discount/promo codes or other sites to check out?

Thanks!

Re: airline discounts

  • AAA,sam's club and costco
  • Woah! Per person?

Sorry to say this...but I vote drive! Airports are going to be nuts around that time anyway.

  • ps not sure if it's too much of a drive but my grents swear they get way cheaper prices by flying out of palm desert

    Total.

hell no I would not drive w/a baby. Good job for those of you that have, but I'd like to keep my sanity. As little as it may be.

    *runs off to check costco*

  • priceline.com, orbitz.com, travelocity.com, expedia.com

Be sure to try other airports.  We flew out of OC to Ireland and we've taken Jet Blue out of Long Beach to the Bay Area a few times.  Oh, and my mom flew home out of Palm Springs!

I sacrafice sanity because I am cheap. For example...our trip to FL in Dec. I didn't buy Mary a seat and she will be 2 weeks shy of 1 year old. What the heck was I thinking. :(

But $400ish total doesn't sound too bad. I hope you find something.

  • Have you checked jetblue?

Long Beach to Sacramento is $49 each way.?

I flew to texas with Isabel when she was 11mths old and when she was 1yr and a half. Both times we didn't get her a seat and she sat in my lap the whole flight and each time she did fine

  • Go to airfarewatchdog and set up a tracker on the flight routes youre interested in and they'll email when theres a good deal for that route. Cant promise it will get you the price you want for turkey day but its nice to have if its a route you take often.

Are you flexible with the days? That will help a lot.

    I cosign on kayak too...

  • Oh and if you have an entertainment book or know someone who does there are discount codes in there for various airlines (I dont think SW is one of them though)

we have one at home! I'll check it out tonight. Plus, we're flying out the weekend before turkey day. I'm hoping cheap flights will be on our side.

I've already found a cheaper flight through hot wire :D:D:D

It's true....we're flying out of AZ. So that means a two hr flight Crying

Yeah, Mary did fine to Texas. But Florida is like a 5 hour flight with a 1 hour lay over then another hour in the air. :(

  • just wanted to add a couple more to everyone's great sites

check out bing.com it compares all airlines and forecasts if prices will go up or down

    also check out travelzoo website

  • Ditto travelzoo.com - they have all sorts of random deals. I also use Orbitz and priceline quite a bit.

  • Thanksgiving is going to be tough to find cheap fares. ?I think I missed it - where are you flying to?

    ?

I second you - don't drive. ?We used to drive from here to Sac every Thanksgiving and after dealing with the traffic on the way back - we decided never again. ?That was 5 years ago - and we've flown every Thanksgiving since! ?Sure, it's pricey now with Campbell - but so worth it.?
