WWYD?

So I look out my window this morning and notice that Nicor (gas company) has spray painted the line marks on our sidewalk and grass.  Look to my left and see the city water company pick-up truck in between my house and the neighbors house.  I called the water company to see if there was something wrong with our line and they said they are doing a repair between my house and the neighbors.  They are to start at 9.  It's a little past nine but also raining on and off (which may be a slight cause on their delay)

The lady on the phone said that they will let us know if they need to turn off the water.  I have a ton of laundry to do (especially David's clothes).  I'm afraid that once I start it, they are going to need to turn off the water and I'm stuck with semi-washed clothes.  I know I can stop the load mid-cycle but my issue is that the water sometimes gets dirt in it when they do repairs and you're supposed to run the water until it's clear.  I don't want to wash clothes with dirty water.

Re: WWYD?

  • Is there any crew on site yet?  If so, I'd go ask them if they have any plans to shut off the water in the next hour or so.  If not, throw in a load.
  • There is nobody right now. Knowing my luck, they'll come knock on my door when David is napping.

I'm going to throw a load in.  Worst case scenarion, I have soapy clothes that need to get re-washed.

  • I would just throw in a load too. If they turn off the water before you're done just take the wet clothes out, run 1 empty load through (to get all the dirt and rust out of the water), and then rewash the load you took out.

  • Yeah, I threw a load in.  They still aren't here.  I think the rain we had this morning may have played a factor in it.  Off to drop one load in the dryer and a new load in the washer.
