She's super excited about her trip (she leaves Friday a.m. bright and early) and even printed off all the info you've all been kind enough to provide so she can explore the city a bit. She's wondering: What's the best way to get downtown from the airport? She's staying at the Cosmo. She's having a hard time working with the online transit schedules (apparently maps show one thing, description sometimes says something different). She's thinking she wants to save $ by taking public transit, as opposed to a cab. She says there's a TTC route that goes to Spadina subway station (correction... the map shows it going to Spadina, the description says it only goes to Lawrence West, argh) and then hopping on the subway to King street. ???????? Man, remind me never to travel with this girl! lol
Re: lol TO girls...my friend has one last question (she promises)
There are a number of different transit routes that leave the airport and connect with the subway.

Assuming she's arriving during the day she can either of these two buses
The 192 Airport Rocket OR the 58A Malton. Both will take her to the subway line. Her hotel is right at King Station (on the subway line).
How she gets to King Station depends on which bus she takes.I'm assuming they both leave at fairly regular intervals during the day (and likely from the same place). She can take whichever one comes first.
The 192 Airport Rocket will her to Kipling Station (from Kipling she will travel to Bloor/Yonge Station, switch trains to the southbound line and ride the train until King station (all one one fare),
The 58A bus will take her to Lawrence West Station (from there she will go South until she gets to King Station.
Once she gets to King Station, her hotel is one block south of King (walk south (towards the CN tower) down Yonge, turn left at Colborne.
Oh and cash bus fare is $2.75. They don't give change so tell her to bring the exact fare (or be willing to lose out on her change). Also tell her to get a transfer when she gets on the bus from the bus driver if she gets the 58A bus. She won't need one for Kipling Station, but may need one for Lawrence West (I've never gone that route so not sure if transfers are needed). Without a transfer she may need to pay the fare again at the station.
I hope that helps and that she has a good trip! The CNE opens this weekend if she's looking for a good place to do some people watching!

I was thinking the same thing.
Is she flying into pearson airport or on porter air (which lands on the Toronto Island - much more convinient!) would be my first question... like the others though I am assuming to Pearson in which case a cab would be $50ish (pending traffic) and Shannon and Andrea have ID'd the best TTC route.
If by chance she is flying in from the island - take a cab, it's under $20.
Nope, if she is flying into Pearson, the cabs charge a flat rate depending on the area you are travelling to, they typically do not use the meter. It probably is around $50, but she can look it up ahead of time (it took awhile for me to find the map before, but it's definitely online). So the price does NOT depend on traffic.
No matter what, even if it takes 5 minutes, it still costs $29 to go from the airport to my house (which is pretty close to the airport).
Actually Brampton is part of the flat rate range. It goes all the way to Burlington.
