and we're on to doc #6.
The doctor today was really nice, I really liked her. She asked me a ton of questions about his routines and habits, the food he ate, family medical history, and his behaviour, but in the end she admitted she was stumped. She agreed that it certainly sounded like a "biological trait" and that it there didn't seem to be anything we had done wrong, but had no idea what the cause could be or whether there would be a way to fix it if we did find the cause.
She seemed very concerned that he hasn't gained weight in six months and said that she thought the two issues were related somehow, but she didn't know if one caused the other or if a third factor is causing both. So she wrote out a referral to another pediatrician friend of hers who she thought we would have more luck with.
Re: So we saw doc #5 today
My thoughts exactly... Hoping the Dr #6 can shed some light for you.
I didn't get a chance to respond to your other post, but I wanted to say how sorry I am. Alex is a pretty crappy sleeper and sleeps below the average and wakes up a million times so I know how hard it is, but he is no-where near your son.
I know a nestie who went to the Boston paediatric sleep disorder clinic but I am not sure if that's a possibility for you, since it's out of the country, etc. Maybe you could take a look at their website to see if there is any useful material, or maybe they do phone consulation.
I am glad at least someone is taking your concerns seriously and I hope you get some answers soon. It definitely does not sound normal...
Good luck!

It's gotta be hard bouncing from doc to doc. I truly hope the referral to #6 proves to be successful for you. Someone out there will have the answers you are looking for, I know it.
Keep truckin, friend. It's a long road but you are such a good mom, E is so lucky to have a determined set of parents who will help him get what he needs.
