Who went to Cincinnati State?
Last week I posted about UC graduate school but I am not a candiate for this program in nutrition science and the certificate program they offer I am to late for and will need to wait another year. I was recommended by UC to check out CS. The classes look awesome actually and the cost is about 1/3. I am not sure if I will take classes and then transfer to UC or complete at CS. I haven't talked to them yet only emailed and left a message. Just looking for feedback on the school. Thanks
Re: Who went to Cincinnati State?
I went. I just finished my HR Management certificate, actually just got the document in the mail yesterday!
It was okay. I went to NKU, UK and XU and Cin State was my least favorite. They don't seem to care too much about you and I wasn't used to the limited class selections. I needed one more class to graduate and they would offer it ever term, I'd register and then they'd drop me from it because of lack of enrollment. There were only 5 people in my program and we all needed the same class. I complained on several occasions and they finally subbed another class for me so I could graduate.
I was frustrated on several occasions; they had web registration, but if there was a problem after the registration date you couldn't fix anything online, it all had to be done in person, which was a PITA. I was only on campus 1 day a week and I had trouble getting up there in time so I would have to go on my lunch break or something.
All in all I think it was a pretty good school as far as what I learned. You can't beat the price.
The price difference is amazing, I don't think I would have to get loans.Which is great considering the career path that I am pursuing doesn't pay more than what I make now. The classes offered at CS sound great alot less science is required.
I am just learning about the field and the certificate needed. I have had a meeting with anyone yet. I do not think that a masters level is required much in this field, only if you plan on doing research, which I am not.
The differences in the science part of the classes at the two schools are extreme. CS requires 6 weeks of chemistry and lab whereas UC requires 8 courses of lecture and lab in chemistry.
The nutrition classes look similar, they both require mediacal terminolgy and the other 7-8 classes seem like they are on the same. I think CS prepares you to be a Dietetic technician wheras UC prepares you to take the certificate and become a Registered Dietician. I am anxious to sit down and figure this all out.
