Suprise party: Superhero or '70's '80's themed?
I want to have a party for DH, his birthday is right around Halloween so I want to make it a Halloween/birthday party. I'll have to send invitiations out soon! My parents are actually travelling from Calgary (woohoO)
DH likes superheroes, super powers etc.
Do you think a super hero theme would be acceptable and do you think enough people would be into it (they don't have to go all out...)? or do you think it would be better if we did a '70's, '80's theme, since he is actually turning 30 ('70's) but he likes to say he is turning 29 again (80's).?

I like the superhero theme the best of all! 70's 80's it too easy! LOL
I had a friend who had a party all Sylvester Stalone (sp?) related. So people came as rambo, rocky or as someone else in the same movies her was in.
Think of all the cool music you could play if you do a 80's themed party!!!
My vote is for 80's or superhero.
Superhero's all the way!!! People can make up their own superhero if they don't want to be a traditional one.
Also, since you and your hubs are both engineers I'm assuming a lot of your friends are too. And knowing my friends from engineering, a super hero party would go over 1 million times better than an 80's party. It will speak to their inner nerd.
I like the super hero party idea... as it would be easy to tell DH you are hosting a "halloween party" and since he likes super heros... he would dress as one!
But I do agree with pp's saying that 70-80's is easier in theme related stuff!
My sister had a super hero party for halloween 2 years ago... it was hilarious in pictures. ?(I didn't get to go!)
Her exBF was a hero sandwich... he got mattress foam and made bread, and wore blue spandex from american apparel and had a cape. ?

I love both ideas! I agree with Shannon that super hero theme would speak to the inner nerd of your engineer friends! LOL I also think it would be hilariously fun.
That said, I also LOVE the 80's with a passion. The music, the clothes (which can you believe, are making a comeback?), the fads.
Actually, I heard a new song by Aqua (same peeps who did Barbie Girl *groan*). It's called Back in the 80's or something like that. The lyrics had me giggling a bit, I won't lie.
