average child care costs in central PA?
Good evening ladies!
DH and I are not TTC for a few years yet, but i was interested to see if any of you know what some of the average prices for childcare are in PA? I know with what we get paid right now we don't make enough to pay for childcare weekly nor for us to live on one income. So i'm just trying to get some numbers in my head so that as we move forward we'll be more educated.
I know it really depends on where you go and where you live (we live in the lancaster area) so i'm just looking for some averages. it doesn't need to be precise, like i said, we're not planning to have any in the near future.
TIA!
Re: average child care costs in central PA?
When my daughter was in daycare last year we paid $660 a month for newborn up to a year. That is low compared to U-Gro which is about $230 a week. We opted to take her out of daycare all together and just have my mom watch her. Better for my emotions!
This is a good post to get some info from...a friend/neighbor of ours is due next month and she had commented a few months ago that the daycare that is literally in our development is expensive yet when she told me the price I thought it sounded reasonable compared to what I remember my SIL telling me she paid on the west shore. I think she told me the one in our neighborhood was $175 (roughly) for the week.
