Watching 16 & Pregnant

It's sad. My sis was pregnant when she was 15, and it brings back alot of the feelings and memories of how it affected our family. Onwards and upwards I suppose. But it still stings. It just tore at our family at the time.

It scary how many of these kids are so desperately immature and naive. Yeesh.

Re: Watching 16 & Pregnant

  • I watched that last night online. I find it hard to watch but continue watching regardless. Like you I had a sister that was a pregnant teenager (17) hers ended in miscarriage at 16 weeks but I remember the yelling and screaming it caused until everyone wrapped their minds around the news.

While watching I see some of the same mistakes that my parents made repeated with the parents of the teens on the show. Like letting the teenagers sleep over...I will never in a million years understand why parents would ever think this is a good idea.

I was watching "Whitney's" episode last night. She seemed like such a child herself, and didn't seem aware at all of what she needed to do to be a good mother.

Sigh, why do I watch things like that?

  • I'm guilty of watching it too, and I also saw the "Whitney" episode. I couldn't believe it. It was sad to watch almost, but maybe for some it will be a wake up call. There were a couple girls in my high school that were pregnant and I just remember thinking wow. I was no where near ready for that when I was in high school, but I guess at that age you never really are ready.

And I have no idea why some parents think the sleepover thing is a good idea either!! There was no way my parents would ever let my brother or I have a boyfriend/girlfriend over for the night when we were in high school!! Neither one of us never really wanted to, but it would never have happened if we did. It's crazy!

  • I ended up watching the Whitney episode yesterday too and was really shocked and how calm everyone was about this. Like it was nothing. I guess since they start taping at 30w, you miss the initial fights (assuming there were some).

Whitney though was the definition of a baby having a baby, it really worried me.

On my dad's side, I was the first female cousin to make to 18 without having a little one on my hip, it's kinda crazy when you think about it. They are well adjusted kids now, but man those first year's were hard (from what I hear from my parents).
