Washer/Dryer recs

Having been in an apartment since being out on my own with crappy washers and dryers, I'm pretty new to this area and we'll need to get a set for the house.

Does anyone have any brands they like or brands we should stay away from?  Should I be looking for any certain specs?

TIA!

Re: Washer/Dryer recs

  • Mu husband researched this for a while when we were looking for ones.  We ended up with an LG washer and dryer.  They are front loaders which are supposed to be good on water consumption.  Consumer Reports recommended them too.  We got them from Home Depot and DH said that when they installed them, the guys were real nice and did a good job.

    Good luck!

  • I have heard good things about the LG

My aunt owns a small furniture/appliance store a couple hours away from us, so we always call her before we go buy.  She told us to go with Whirlpool front loaders.  We have had them about a year and a half and love them!

    Ours came from Lowe's

  • We bought the Kenmore Elite (Sears) front load washer and dryer last summer.  We have them approximately a year now and love them.  This is my first experience with front loaders.  I love them since they don't have the center agitator, plus they are much more efficient.
  • We have the Frigidaire Affinity front loading washer/dryer.  They are an Energy Star appliance and we've had them since Dec. and love them.  We got them at Best Buy and they were a great deal, not to mention we acrued Best Buy reward dollars.

  • We have Frigidaire front loaders as well. Because we bought them while I was still in grad school and DH first moved into what is now our place, we needed something of quality that was a good price.

I'm pretty sure the ones we bought were the cheapest front load Frigidaires and we LOVE them. We've had them since December and haven't had a single problem. I swear they are the quietest washer and dryer I have ever seen/heard/used.

  • I am so jealous of you people and your front loading appliances!  LOL.  We just bought a Maytag set (not front loading) and I LOVE them.

  • Thanks ladies!  It sounds like we can't go wrong with the front loading ones!

  • The people that we bought our house from left their washer and dryer (they were moving out of state and their apartment came with them). We have a Whirlpool. They're not front loaders, but I wish they were. I already told DH that we're getting front loaders when it's time to replace these.
