Pierce is a Leper!

Naw not really but holy heck he has a rash from hell. Dr said he caught some virus that is now coming out of his body in the form of a rash. It's not a big deal but he will have the rash or a few days more before he gets better.

He is covered from head to crotch. The only part that isn't totally covered is his legs and he is itching like crazy.

Last night P would wake up every four hours because of the itching. I would give him Benadryl and Tylenol. Paint him with two coats of Calamine lotion and then wait about an 1 1/2 till the medicine kicks in. He's miserable and honestly with only about 3 hrs of sleep so am I.

I just want to find something to make the itching better.

Anyone have any ideas to help with the itching?

  • Awwww...the poor little guy!  And poor you!!!

Have you tried an oatmeal bath?  I also found that when Sarah gets rashes (she has sensitive skin like me) Aveeno lotion works the best, it's also what her pedi recommended.

Hope you both feel better soon!

  • My H like Eucerin. They have one specialy formulated for itch too. But H and 2 co-workers swear by that brand.

  • I have no suggestions so no help here, but poor P and poor you! I hope you both get some relief soon!

  • Oooh poor baby :( And poor you with no sleep!

Have you tried a baking soda paste? I don't know how well that would work for a whole body rash though- I think Lori's oatmeal bath sounds like it might be more effective.

Don't worry about tomorrow. After all, today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. Take each day as it comes...one at a time. Midnight Baking Adventures Blog
  • Oh no!! Poor P and Poor Amy.

I ditto all of Lori's suggestions. They make an aveeno bath just for babies. And I really like their extra moisure line. When I get hives-due to stress-it's theonly thing that works

Hope he gets better really soon.

  • I would agree with the oatmeal bath. Supposed to be really soothing for a rash. And the baking soda paste too is good.
  • I forgot about the oatmeal bath and I used to use the Aveno lotion. Thanks!

  • Poor P! I hope you find something soon. Here's a linky. Weird rec's (lemon?) but you never know. GL!
  • Poor P!

kneels down to talk to little P - Now P stop giving your mom such a hard time! Get better soon!

I've heard great things about oatmeal baths so thats my only rec. Hang in there mom!

  • Poor baby :(

Sorry I have no advice, but my heart breaks for P!

  • Dang it I was just painting him with the Calamine lotion and noticed it's spread to his butt now....like everywhere. Even his anus.

    This sucks.

  • I feel so bad for him.what kind of infection did the dr say he had?
  • A virus. Can't tell us how, or what, or when. There are no meds to treat it and apparently it's not uncommon.

Well that's a whole lot of help. You must beyond frustrated and just feel so helpless

  • I'm about to out myself but P isn't a freak. I get rashes like that too. Well actually, knock on wood, I haven't for a long time. The only thing that i remember working was Aveeno, and Benedryl. Enough Benadryl to knock me out so I didn't care if I was itching. Wait, cold compresses on the itchiest spots and Bactine or however it's spelt. Poor P and Poor Amy!
