R.M.T. in GTA/Durham/York?
I?m looking for a registered massage therapist that can do prenatal/pregnancy massages in the GTA/Durham/York area.
I went to one this week and they said ?Yes we do pregnancy massages? ? Great! I get there and I had to lie on my side the entire time. Ummm?..NO not the same thing (to me), I want the beds with the whole in the middle to put my belly in! LOL I want to be comfortable laying on my front!! Please!!
I?m willing to travel to get there (to a certain degree) ? it?s only once a month anyways.
Any recommendations?
TIA!

Re: R.M.T. in GTA/Durham/York?
LOL I know...I used to mock those too but right not it would be soooo nice to lie on my front!!
I strongly recommend you look at Sutherland-Chan Clinics. The therapists are highly trained and have many different techniques/cushions to accomodate pregnant women. They have 8 GTA locations. I used to manage the Calgary branch.

Thats a good point, it was my first time at this place.
Obviously not like my 'usual' girl but she's on Lakeshore and too far from Pickering...
I'll try another place and see how that goes...Thanks Amy.
Thanks!
I get mine when lying on my side or back and I feel like it is just as good as when I was able to lay on my stomach. I agree that it is probably the RMT.
I remember reading a few negative things about the tables with the belly holes, but I don't remember what.
As an RMT myself, you will find very few therapists out there that have a table with a hole in it for your tummy. It's not very practical for a multi-disciplinary clinic. There are special pillows/supports that can be put on the table for pregnant women, but not many therapists have them either.
I have been in practice for over 10 years, and I always place my clients on their side with pillows. I think that your experience had less to do with the way you were positioned, and more to do with the therapist that you went to.
One of the pp's mentioned the southerland-chan clinics. I would make sure that the therapist that you would be seeing is indeed an RMT and it's not a student clinic.
You can look for a therapist at the following sites as well:
