I may have a c-section

I had a growth U/S today and found out my LO is breeched. I have to go back in 2 weeks to see if she has moved at all. I hope she does turn but if she doesn't, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to keep her healthy. The doc was talking to me about a procedure that they can try and turn the baby at 35 weeks if still breeched, but I wasn't a big fan because it can induce labour, or because of it cause an emergency C-Section. Hopefully she turns on her own if not, I have to go in at 39 weeks.

How is everyone's else's pregnancies going? Hope everyone is feeling good.

Oh, Not sure if I did this earlier, but congrats Jen&Joe on your LO. He is a cutie.

Re: I may have a c-section

  • Lexi was breech and I decided not to try the inversion technique with her b/c I have a friend whose baby died due to having the external version technique done( the umbilical cord got pinched and ended up cutting off oxygen to the baby a few hours after the procedure was done).  There  are some other natural ways to try turning a breech baby, but I felt that having a planned c-section was the safest for us.

Most breech babies will turn themselves sometime within 32-37 weeks so there is still hope for your little girl.  If not then i say go for the C/S.  With the spinal injection, labour and delivery are a breeze!

  • Sometimes they turn on their own!  DD#2 was breech until a week ago and turned at my 37 week appt.  I wouldn't worry about it too much yet, your LO still has plenty of time.  But definitely sending *turn* vibes your way. :)

Turn baby, turn!  I hope you're one of the lucky ones who's little one turns before delivery!
  • Thanks ladies. I agree with you Betty. When we read more about the inversion technique I was turned off. If she doesn't turn on her own in the next little while I will be doing a planned C-Section. It wasn't part of my original birth plan, but I'm not going to be to upset about it cause things happen and it's part of life.

  • Thanks for the link Jen, DH actually found the website last night after our appt. I'm going to try some of the techniques to see if it will work.

  • Yes!  There are lots of ways to spin that baby.  Get cracking! ;)

I have friends who've had much success with things like acupuncture/moxibustion and chiro.  There is still plenty of time.

    GL!
