They ARE in the house! Ick ick ick!
My useless cats were playing with a half dead mouse last night! As morbid as it was, it was kinda funny. Jonesy would position it *just so*...then walk away and spin around and leap onto it. lol The other two were just looking at him like he was nuts. Neither of them wanted to go near it!
I hadn't really considered some of the implications of using poison, so I think I am going to pick up a couple of those plug in things and hope that works.
Re: They ARE in the house! Ick ick ick!
We got the plug ins - they don't work.
p.s. This sounds like my house is infested. It's not. We live very close to conservation land and farm fields, so when the weather turns, we get one or two looking for a warm spot.
ooo gross! I know the feeling!
I know you're trying to be as nice as you can but IMO traps are the only trusting thing that'll work!
Unless your cats like cheese
that might be a problem!
Good luck!
We had a mouse flit through our house. It's a 4-plex. I screamed to DH for help when I saw him while I was in the bath. His reply was a lazy "What did you say sweetheart?" I hollered again and he came to the rescue with DD's tiny rubber boot. For the love of frog.
Our mouse was an injured mouse and was caught on the neighbour's couch trying to convalesce. They caught him in a tupperware and tossed him. We're thankful he was a lonely mouse and didn't have any friends or family. (We're now 100% mouse free!)
This didn't stop me from buying up all of the fresh mint plants from the local garden centres and putting them everywhere. Supposedly they hate mint. They also hate these little pillows stuffed with herby things that many people put in their RVs. I wish I could find the link...
Although if I had an infestation I wouldn't just use these 'green' deterrants. I'd want an exterminator.
The best mouse trap is cruel but works and is safe for all your pets. My dad did this at my grandmothers for a week. She's allergic to cats and she had a mouse infestation. One week of this trap no more mice. Find a secluded spot in your house where you have evidence of mice. take a pop can and poke a hole in the bottom, unbend a wire hanger and poke it through the can. The can needs to easily spin on the hanger. Take the hanger and rest it on the top of a deep bucket that is half full of water with the can positioned over the center of the bucket. Put PB or cheese whiz on the can...and empty the bucket in the morning.
It's gross, it's mean and heartless BUT it works. Just don't catch the mice and then let them go. Basically that will just result in your house being infested with mice.
