My brother is cracking me up

He's 12.  Apparently, our mom told him he can't go to the junior high dance tonight.  He is beyond devestated.  This is the email I just got:

"Hey Shoe, how are you?  Mom won't let me go to the dance tonight.  Do you think maybe you can help me?  Brother"

I am seriously cracking up at the 10 email conversation we are having regarding how to convince Mom to let him go.  I think he got in trouble for something and he's just not telling me.

  • That's too funny. I have a 13 year old brother, and I totally see he and I have an email conversation like this.

  • It really is hilarious.  I know the reason she doesn't want him to go is b/c she is going out of town tonight and she doesn't want to worry about him while she's not home.  But I can't tell him that.

Now he's telling me that maybe he can just ask Dad after Mom leaves.  I'm like, DON'T LIE, BOY!

Such an entertaining way to pass the afternoon...

  • That's too funny! Although, I remember Jr. High. I would have been sooo mad if I could not have gone to the dance.

  • The irony in all of this is that she let him go the the same dances when he was in the 6th grade but she won't let him go this year (supposedly).  He told me that she told him he can't go until the 10th grade.  Which I'm sure she just told him to piss him off.

However, when we were young (we=me+other brother), we were NOT allowed to go to junior high dances at all.  Mom said it would ruin high school for us.  I kind of see where she's coming from now but my world came collapsing down around me at the time.

  • Well, then if you guys couldn't go...then it's only fair.

I hated that I had a 9:30 curfew my senior year, but my brother, who is a year younger than me had no curfew. Annoying. I think all rules should apply equally...

    haha my vent

Dude, I would have gone Norma Rae on their ass...

"Fair" in that household went out the window a long time ago.  Youngest Brother is waaaaay spoiled.  He's not a brat but he gets everything he wants and then some.  Personally, I think it's crappy of her to let him go to the dance in 6th grade but not in 7th grade.  When he was in 6th grade and going to dances, I actually gave her the side-eye big time.

  • It is a little unfair to give the "it'll ruin HS" reason, when he already went to a dance.

It's hard to be that age though, especially when everyone else is going somewhere you can't. I would totally be complaining too if I were him.
