what is the draw of the starbucks drive thru?

There are 3 starbucks in a .25mile radius that I pass on my way to work.  I have learned that the fastest one to go to is the one with a drive thru b/c no one goes IN to the store.  I make it a point to figure out what car arrives at the same time as me and opts to drive thru.  I always get done while they are still at least 3-4 cars back from the pick up window.

I can understand if the person has kids in the car, or maybe is still in their PJs but by quick glance it's all people alone in their car, in work attire, probably heading to the huge state office buildings down the road.

The radio isn't that interesting, you are going to be sitting all day at work, why not save some time and go in?  This *might* not apply if the weather is crappy, but even then there are million close parking spots. Huh?

Re: what is the draw of the starbucks drive thru?

  • I always make my own coffee, so for me the "treat" of going to Starbucks or another shop is walking in, smelling the delicious smells, and seeing what's new.  Driving through, I just think... why even bother?

My MIL always drives through, but I give her a pass because because she usually has the dog with her.

HAHA - that's my answer too!

We normally go through the drive through on Sunday's when we're on our way to lab club (yep our dog is in a club).  It's become tradition, we love the lady at the drive through window, she always gives Jackson a plain timbit!

Starbuck's always gives MIL's dog a snack, too!  That's why she's so loyal to them.  And I think it's adorable that Jackson is in a club, he must love going to play with the other labs!

  • i don't drink coffee so i can't really relate but  if i did, i would have the same reason as amy lol..

  • hehehe, I'm lazy too.  But I guess I'm more impatient!

There isn't much of a line on the weekend, but I wish I could take a picture of the crazy drive thru line at this place on a weekday morning.  It is usually backed up onto the side street and it has to take at least 15 mins to make it to the window some mornings.

I would so much rather sleep in an extra 10 mins... haha
