I had wicked cramping yesterday. It seemed the go away when I laid down and chugged water, although some mild cramping continued. I also had a lot of pressure. This morning I woke up to the same pressure and had bright red spotting.
Everything looks good. They can't totally tell if I was contracting or not because they said at 21 weeks the monitors sometimes can't pick it up. Baby's heart rate is good, no infection, my cervix is sealed tight and they couldn't find any blood internally. On a side note, I consider myself a trooper to anything gyn related after all I've been through, but man, the internal WAS NOT FUN.
So I'm home now and am on modified bed rest for the rest of the week. And of course I'm really busy at work, but the Dr did say I could work from home as long as it wasn't stressful.
It was a very scary couple of hours. Thankfully everything seems okay for now.
Re: First trip to labour and delivery this morning
How scary! Thank goodness everything is ok with the both of you.
One of my friends had bleeding in the 2nd tri as well and ended up on bed rest for the rest of her pg due to the bleeding and cramping( she had a prvious M/C at 18 weeks so she was terrified). The good news is that this time she went on to deliver a perfectly healthy baby girl at full term:-)
Just remember that bleeding throughout pg can be normal and that sometimes it just happens for no reason. Try to rest as much as you can and I'm sure everything will be just fine:-)
wow Amy that must've been a bit of a scare! I'm glad all is well
Are they sending you for an U/S to find the source of the bleeding or did they suggest it was a broken blood vessel from the cervix (I had that happen)
They didn't send me for an u/s; I'm guessing because there wasn't even a trace of blood when I was examined.
I dunno. I'm trying to be as zen as possible about this and not worry - so much easier said than done, right?
Soooo much easier said than done.
Remember me telling you about my paranoia? Stay positive - obviously all is great if the docs said so!
How scary! Make sure you relax as much as possible and keep thinking positively!
THANK GOODNESS! Oh my. What a scare.
And yes, internals while pregnant are really.... unique.
You take it easy. Stay off your feet.
WOW that is scary! I'm so glad to hear that everything is alright!
Rest up mamma!
