Pumpkin Patches? Fall questions...

On the topic of "fall"...

Are their any fun pumpkin patches around to take the kiddies to?

What about any fun halloween/fall festivals? Any other exciting things going on here in the fall?

What do you do for Halloween?

Can you tell I'm in a fall kind of mood today?

Re: Pumpkin Patches? Fall questions...

  • I took my godchild to this one http://www.thfarms.com/  It was so nice. Also theres Boo at the zoo thats really cute.
  • I'm sure there are fun halloween/fall events, I'll let you know if I hear about something!

We used to go to my parents' house every year for a big party but last year they hosted it for the last time, it was just too much for them.

This year I'm hoping to bring Elise to my brother's neighborhood in Denham Springs.  He lives in one of those new cookie cutter neighborhoods and knows a lot of the people there so it'd be a good place to take her trick or treating.  And his street has a block party too.

  • How CUTE!! love those pictures! That is exactly what I want to do with my two...get some cute pictures with pumpkins and stuff.

I got them a monkey and a turtle costume, but i'm sure they are going to be too warm...I ordered them online, so I'll see when they get here. I debated on what to get because its not like we can really take them trick or treating and we don't know anyone here so its not like we have a party to go to! But I want to take pictures of them in costumes.

DH says we can take them trick or treating to a few houses, so I guess that is what we will do.

This looks super cute! Thanks for sharing....

  • Well, I am biased about what qualifies as a pumpkin patch. I am from Portland, OR, and our patches had pumpkins in fields still growing on the vine, and we took hayrides out to to patches to pick out our pumpkins.

I have not found one of those around here, although I have heard rumors about a place out near Sherwood. We always end up going to UUMC (the methodist church) on LSUs campus. It is on Dalrymple across from the Lab School. The always have lots of pumpkins, but is not a "patch."

I know Sorority Row always has kid-friendly trick-or-treating at some point right before Halloween. I know people that take their kids every year and love it.

Yeah, around here, carve the pumpkins the week of Halloween, or they will get nasty, fast.

Also, if you live near LSU, bring your pumpkins in at night. The fraternities like to go around and smash pumpkins. I remember our first year in LA, the fraternities came to our neighborhood, and everyones' pumpkins on my street were smashed in the street. My baby brother was completely beside himself.

There is a place in Montz that does this.  It's about an hour away and that is where I always go to get pumpkins.  I've gone since I was a little kid and they still do everything the same, you even have to wash the pumpkins after you pick them.
