Honest opinions please

Bennett for a boy... I Know its so early but I told my mom that I really had my heart set on that, She told me if I named my kid that it sounds snobbish plus he would get teased? Honest opinions please? Also for a girl I really Like Hadleigh? thoughts?

Re: Honest opinions please

  • Meant to say what do you think of?
  • My cousin named her little boy Bennett.  I don't see a problem with it, he looks like a Bennett!  That said...she DOES dress him rather preppy.  You could always call him Ben if you wanted to later on.

  • Hadleigh isn't really my cup of tea, but if you like it and your DH likes it then that's all that matters!  Leigh is my middle name :)  So I like that part.

Name them whatever you want, people will get used to it and even grow to love it!  A friend of mine recently named her baby an odd name (I'm not going to say on here, JUST IN CASE) but now I kinda like it!

  • I had thought about Bennett b/c it's a family name, but we may use it for a middle name, or not at all. We're not sure yet. I like the name.

I don't like Hadleigh b/c I taught a "Hadley" where I used to work, and she was a little troll, horribly mean to all of the kids. But that is just my feelings of the name, because of an experience I've had. if you love it, use it.

  • For the very reason you posted a lot of people don't share their proposed names ahead of time. Everyone is going to have an opinion. Ali mentioned a little girl she taught, someone else might have known some one with one of those names who was a sweet heart. Right now it's a lot about perception. We told everyone our proposed names and they were all tickeled since they are all family names, but we're not telling them the gender of the baby (if we find out).

  • There's nothing wrong with Bennett and it does not sound snobbish at all.  I know a man named Bennett and he's a douche so I immediately associate it with him making it NMS.

Hadleigh is NMS either.  But it's not a bad name either.

I would beware about discussing names too much with those you love.  They will be brutally honest.  We have managed to avoid talking names with anyone in our families so far and I'm hoping to keep that up for as long as possible.  I tend to take things to heart and I know if my mom or MIL bashed one of my names, I would be really upset.
