I know that looking at a house is supposed to be fun, but I am NOT having fun. We really want a house that is older, when I say older here we're talking 100+ years old. The two that we looked at yesterday were just not feasible for us right now and I was so dejected. We can't get into another that is currently our top pick till the weekend. There are several new construction that we can afford, but I don't want to give up on an older house.
Words of encouragement are greatly appreciated because right now I'm feeling defeated.

Re: House hunting Follow up
I hope you find a house soon. Are yall leasing or buying?
I have totally been there and it sucks. The best advice I can give is that there IS a house out there for you. I know you guys would like to move sooner rather than later but I promise that patience will pay off in this situation. Try not to get too discouraged.
I would suggest sitting down with YH and making a list of things that are really important to you in a home. Things like location, size, # of beds/baths, yard, etc. You might have to compromise on some of them in the end but I promise when you walk into "your home" you will know it.
Something else to consider is maybe finding a new realtor? I don't know the situation up there at all but our realtor was VERY proactive. When we wanted to see a house, she got us in there within 2 hours. She was there to make a sale and she would do whatever it took to make us happy.
