I can't *wait* til my new neighbours move in!

Note the sarcasm! lol Met their dad last night. He is acting as their general contractor and we chatted for about 45 minutes when he came out to check on the progress of their new house. His daughter is 24, pregnant, due in October. The fiance is also 24. They both live with their parents (neither have ever lived away from home). Dad was blabbing on about how irresponsible they are...ugh, made me feel really confident in their ability to maintain their home and yard - NOT!

They are planning on taking possession of the house in Feb and getting married in July. He went on and on about how they only "have so much money to spend", and how building them this house was actually a cheaper alternative than buying an existing home in the city. When he told me how much they are spending, my jaw dropped! Needless to say, I cannot fathom how they will build a whole house for that little money...but they are.

Annnd, the best part is that this is the same girl who, when she came to look at the lot, I overheard complaining, "I don't want my house to look miniature compared to *that* one"..."how close are we going to be to that one?". lmao. This is gonna be interesting.

Re: I can't *wait* til my new neighbours move in!

  • LOL they'll be interesting.

I know a lot of mature and "ready" 24 year olds (my SIL is one of them), but this one sounds like she's not got her stuff together. And she sounds materialistic based on the comments you mentioned. good times.

  • Hopefully motherhood will mature her quickly!
