tailgaters or anyone with good app. ideas
We are having a small get together at our house Sat. afternoon for the football games going on. I really don't know what kind of food to have. It will mostly be a bunch of guys who don't give a rat's asss, but it gives me an excuse to cook up some yummy stuff.
So far, I know I want to have:
Meatballs and/or cocktail wienies
some kind of cheesy dip w/ tortilla chips
And that is pretty much the extent of it. What else are you girls having or would you like to see at a football get together?

Buffalo chicken dip for sure! Below is a link to the recipe (serve with tortilla chips) - everyone always loves it...
p.s. - don't worry with the celery, definitely use Frank's buffalo sauce, and you can do canned chicken, but we always do cooked chicken breasts (boiled) chopped up - but you could probably do them in a slow cooker and shred them too

Another fall favorite with my friends and family is sausage dip! So easy and GOOD! (but not good for you, oh well!)
Ingredients: One roll each of:
Sage Sausage
Medium or hot sausage ( I like hot)
One block of cream cheese.
Brown sausage in skillet, drain fat. Cut cream cheese into cubes, and mix with sausage. Serve hot with tortilla chips, or small cocktail loaf of pumpernickel or rye.
Yum now I want to make this.

I just posted my recipe for black bean salsa dip in my blog - I make it for almost everything as everyone requests it.
Some other favorites:
cheddar apple pie dip from Kraft foods

Empanadas
I make a filling similar to spinach dip - saute spinach, onion, roasted red peppers and garlic. Add cream cheese and parmesian cheese. Take a premade refrigerated pie crust, roll it out and cut into 3-4" circles. Spoon some filling onto 1 side of the circle, brush the edges with an egg wash, and seal into a pocket. You can either fry or bake them. (I prefer mine baked)
Pigs in a blanket - DH's favorite (he wanted these at our wedding, but luckily the caterer said they weren't on their menu)
Wings - I made some great ones a few weeks ago with a marinade of soy sauce, apricot jelly, olive oil, and ginger. Marinated them for a couple hours then grilled.

Haha... in that setting it would work fine, we had a fairly formal wedding and had no other appetizers so they would have been 100% out of place at ours!
