I ordered about $35 in prints from Shutterfly last week and they arrived today ... in pieces. That's a slight exaggeration but they are wrinkled, edges chewed up and just generally not at all suitable for framing (which was the point). The post office delivered everything in a clear plastic bag that said something like, "We're sorry but we handle lots of mail and we apologize for the inconvenience."
Gee, thanks.
I was upset, obviously and figured there was nothing I could do since the shipment wasn't insured. I've ordered lots of prints from Shutterfly in the past few years and never once requested they insure the shipment (if that's even possible).
So I checked Shutterfly's policy online and then called customer service. They are issuing a reprint and shipping the entire order to me at no charge.
Yay for a GOOD customer service experience!

Re: Post Office chewed up my Shutterfly shipment
The post office sucks! I cant tell you how many times invite have been lost in the mail and I have received my mail OPENED! I can understand why a lot of people dont send mail much anymore...
But, YAY to shutterfly
Our post office has been horrible lately about this. We received three wedding cards in those lovely plastic envelopes with the sorry statement, however, it still made an awkward phone call to those guests who mailed checks. We sat on them for weeks before getting the guts to tell them their checks were chewed up in the mail.
Glad to hear shutterfly was helpful, they have great customer service in my opinion.
